Need Injury Advice

Well, my big race is next weekend and what do you know my left knee has started hurting. The pain is toward the top-outside part of my kneecap. It feels like the pain is right under the knee cap. I don’t notice much pain when walking uphill or on a flat surface, but it hurts when I walk down stairs. I’ve cut out all working out for a few days and don’t plan to do much until it starts to feel better. Unfortunately, my big tri is next weekend – Santa Barbara Long Course.

Has anyone had similar symptoms, and if so how long did it take to heal up. I long for the days when an ache or pain would always go away over night. Is there anything I can do to speed up recovery other than stretching and ice?

Thanks in advance.

Where’s Tigerchik? This is an injury post!
Sorry Tenacious…don’t have any advice for you. Maybe Patellar Tendonitis? I have no clue, but just walk it down the hills. There’s only two significant downhills on that course and they’re not that long. Hang in there!

Google “runners knee” (common name) or “patello femoral syndrome”. See if the descriptions match…
