Need info for the East Fork Triathlon

I’m thinking about doing the East Fork Triathlon & Duathlon near Columbus OH.

Has anyone here that has done that race have anything to say about it?

There is a pretty big hill that begins immediately out of the transition area; you will want to make sure your bike is in the correct gear as there is no time to even shift before you hit the hill. And sadly, the run for the olympic distance is two laps so you’ll get to run up that same hill two times. There’s also another pretty substantial hill after you leave the town of Bethel on the olympic bike course. The rest of the course is flat to rolling.

Also it’s a lot closer to Cincinnati than Columbus. The start is on the south side of the lake as well - the first year I went I came to the north side of the lake, and it took me like 20 minutes to drive all the way around the lake to get to the south side.

Thanks, I just went through google maps and it had me going to the wrong Bethel OH.

I noticed it’s just east of Cincy.

I really think you should skip this race. Just kidding - just saying that because I believe you are in my age group :-).

I’ll be going to the race; I made you a map here…

If you decide to go, you may wish to park before you go down the big hill, there is a small parking lot at the top of the hill (see this link). The road down into the transition area is really small and there will be bikers and runners going up/down that hill all day, so if you park down by the transition area they don’t like for you to leave until everyone is done with the race. If you park at the top of the hill you can pretty much leave whenever you want.

Thanks for the help, I really wanted to hit the Wheelie Fun series races this year and this is the furthest race from me.

I have 'till 11:59 tonight to decide if I’m going.
