It absolutely does NOT feel like that at the moment!! I “spin my wheels” when swimming…and yes it is really difficult to change that for me.
A swim coach told me recently to"during the stroke let your arm find the path where there is most resistance" …I’m working on that at the moment.
Yes, this is true.
But it is better for learning to attack part of the stroke at one time, otherwise the student swimmer can be overwhelmed.
Also, sometimes when you first fix a few big problems, sometimes a few of the other problems improve a lot on their own.
Resistance, yes, but it must be resistance in the direction of travel. Because resistance side to side is just pushing water around for no benefit.
Get some paddles (use them with a pull buoy, of course) as l described above. Because paddles set up precisely as l describe above will teach you exactly this: how to use that resistance to grab on to the water. And they will uncover all of your unnecessary and wasteful movements too.
Thanks, I have already ordered and received the paddles you recommended and been swimming with them 2 times.
It seems like my right hand does something that my left hand does not! For some reason the paddle on my right hand end up positioned “crooked” in my hand after ca 50 meters …so some things clearly need to be corrected!
Well done.
When you can swim perfectly smoothly (above water, entering the water, under the water, and exiting the water) with these special paddles, l guarantee your stroke will be better. Post another video then.
Persist. You will be rewarded. Good luck!
