Need Help with Bottom Bracket Install...Please

So, let me start by saying I absolutely hate press fit bottom brackets.

With that out of the way, I had to install a new 86/92 wheels mfg bottom bracket. The instructions weren’t clear and it seems I installed the drive side on the non-drive said and vice versa. What should I do? Do I have remove and buy a whole new bb? Can I simply flip the bearings? Anyone know? Thank you.

SRAM GXP?

Take the cups out and reinstall them

That’s ok to do? They say once a press fit is installed, don’t reinstall.

Ideally, yes; you don’t install and reinstall these, but it’ll either work fine or it won’t, and if it won’t you’re buying a new unit anyways.
Most of the time, it works ok. Ish. As well as these ever tend to work, anyways. It’s largely down to how well the frame is built, and how true the bore and face is.

Take it to a bike shop let them install yes you’ll pay extra but trust me does not worth the frustration.

It takes less than half a minute to tap them out, and maybe another minute or two to reinstall. Versus the hour(s) of taking to a shop (tomorrow!) to do the exact same thing.

It’s not rocket science. Plenty of youtube videos. Learn it and be done and next time you’ll be good to go. Much better than simply relying on someone else all the time.

yes take them out and reinstall

i assume you have the right tools.

Yep. The install went really well, just wrong side for the cups. I’ll knock out and put back in. Thanks.

Did you get the threaded or unthreaded version?

I hate press fit bearings too. I’m a mechanical engineer and the PFBB30 is a nightmare and scares me that they got them approved to be manufactured. Its just a low rent solution.
That said, I have two bikes with PF BB’s. I got the threaded BB86 and it was a breeze to install and removal seems like it should be easy enough to achieve without trashing everything or teaching the neighbours new words. Fingers crossed. If you have the non-threaded, you’ll probably have a harder time of it.

I like that the treaded version has the PF part is snug, but not watertight, like a standard PF fit. Then the bearings are press fitted into the PF sleeves. I haven’t had to remove the bearings yet (I think they use standard BB30 bearings, not the 2mm larger outside diameter **PF **BB30 bearings)
I’m hoping that when the time comes (and everyone seems to say that the BB30 bearings only last a year!), I can remove the bearings from the PF part, using my Park Tool (that’s designed for BB30 (not PFBB30), and not have to replace the whole Wheels Mfg threaded part too. Then I can just press the standard BB30 bearings into the PF part and be away at the races.
