My '04 QR Kilo started making some weird noises yesterday during my ride. I have determined it is the bottom bracket (pedaling is very difficult). I have removed the non-drive side crankbolt. What do I need to do to get the crankarm off the spindle? I borrowed a tool from a friend. I live in a remote part of Indonesia so I don’t have an LBS around the corner. This tool has the same threads as the crankbolt. I thought by simply threading this on and then tightening the other part of the tool would force the crankarm off. That has not happened yet. Any ideas out there from you bike gurus? I hope Tom D will read this message and provide some online support. I don’t know if the bracket is a sealed cartridge or cup and cone. Any assistance from the forum would be appreciated.
can you post some photos of the crank and the tool you have? i would give you some suggestions, but i would rather you not damage your cranks.
It might help to know what kind of Crank we are talking about. When in doubt, you can go to parktools.com, they have a great tutorial for most jobs.
