Need Advice for nagging foot injury

So midway during the summer I had a little tendon inflammation in my foot that became a nuisance enough to stop my marathon training. I decided on Aug 13th to stop running in hopes it would die down with enough time for a return to running in October.

Well it’s diminished, but any jogging type force brings it back. Well, I called the doc for an appointment, but until then (2-3 weeks from now) I’m wondering if I should keep resting it, or just run so that I can build some fitness and at least be able to show the doc the injury. I ask because when my General Practitioner looked at it, it didn’t hurt, cuz I had been staying off of it. I feel like I should at least have some pain/discomfort when I see my podiatrist so I can get a good diagnosis. (maybe even a cortisone shot).

What would you do?

Funny, I had the same issue. A week before my tuneupe race had pain in my heel, During the race, on the run my Achilles and foot hurt like heck. Didn’t run for a few weeks after and eventually got an X-ray of my foot ( was negative) kept hurting and eventually went to doctor today(2 months later). Turns out was peroneal tendinitis, I was supposed to do princeton 70.3 but due to no running got lazy (ok more lazy) glad I didn’t race as would have really messed up my foot.

Rest it.

It doesn’t need to hurt for an accurate diagnosis in most cases. Best of luck.

As Dr Coogan said rest it. It also make sure you get a xray of it.

Extensor tendonitis by chance? Pain on the top of the first metatarsal? That’s what I’m dealing with right now. I think
