Need advice - bike picker

New to the Forum, so go easy on me.

I’m currently riding an old Trek 1000, looking to make that first tribike puchase. I’ve been doing sprint and Oly for 3-4 yrs. I’ve been looking at Cervelo Dual, Felt 25, and Cdale 800. Any help/advice (yes, i know - #1- get it FIT)? Thanks in advance.

I think most people will say that the Dual and the Felt are both terrific and comparable bikes.

I have the Dual from 03 with 105 (now Ultegra). I just love it, but it was my first tri bike so I have little to compare it to. My wife has a P2K. Same thing…loves it!

I can say that Cervelo seems like a great company. Gerard is on this forum all the time and will respond quickly to e-mails.

They are all good bikes. Cervelo has an advantage in aerodynamics, but Cannondale is 1) made in the USA, if that matters to you, 2) is probably the stiffest frame of the three, and 3) has some of the best aluminium welds in the industry. I’m not familiar with Felt at all since their rebirth, but I’ve heard that they are decent bikes.

Can go wrong with either… It doesn’t seem like the popular peeps on this board like QR but I love mine. You should see what it is around at the local LBS (you may have already) as they may make your decision easier. QR, FELT, Cdale, Cervelo, Guru and bunch others are all great bikes. Personally, I feel Cdale are little pricey compared with the bikes made overseas but they are made in America.

A no-error decision. All good.

Cannondale – coolest looking.

Cervelo – I love their bikes and their commitment to triathlon.

Felt – great value, spec’d very nicely.

I would buy the Cervelo, but that’s as much an emotional decision as a technical one.

I’m with you, I love my QR.

I’m with you, I love my QR.

I always hate to throw another option at somebody that has it already narrowed down, but the two bikes at the bottom of QR’s lineup are very, very nice for the money. They have slacker headtubes and more fork rake than the other brands, which I think makes them better suited to an aggressive bike position.

I own a Quintana Roo Private Reserve and it is a great bike. QR makes good bikes, but one would be hard pressed to find a bike with such fit flexibility as the Dual. Felt and Cannondale make great bikes, as does QR, but none make bikes as capable in such a wide range of fit positions in one bike as the Cervelo. Go with the Dual unless you have complete confidence in your bike fitter who can tell they know that one model will fit you better. (there aren’t that many fitters that one should have complete confidence in)

Add another vote to Quintana Roo. There bikes just look so fast!
