For $10 more, you can get a Polar S150 at Performance or Nasbar. I think they have a 10% off sale now or soon to be. That should get you to almost your price range.
Saw the Polar S150. Looks good.
Is a 50 Lap split enough? I ask as I am just now starting to train for the Ford 70.3 (Mar. 29, 2008) and don’t know what is enough.
What is wrong with the old classic the Timex Ironman 30 bucks
.
For the money it is hard to beat the Polar S150. The only time I can think of that you would need more then 50 laps is swimming, and you can always use the wall clock for your timing in the pool.
If you don’t need/want an HRM, then a simple Timex 100 Lap Ironman watch (which is what I use in the pool) may suit your needs.
Last year I wanted to replace my Timex Ironman with a new one at Boscov’s. They had a sale. Salesguy tried to talk me out of buying the Timex. He told me the quality isn’t as good now that they are made in China. I bought one anyway just for spite. He wasn’t too nice when I said I still wanted one. So far so good.
Timex Ironman is good. I used HRMs for about 5 years. They taught me to better gauge my percoeved effort. Now I just use a stop watch. There are only 4 “laps” in a Tri. (start)Swim(lap), T1(Lap), Bike(Lap), T2(Lap), Run(Stop). Good luck and have fun.
Polar RS 400, not the SD version with the footpod. HR works in water, which is pretty clutch.

Oakley D2 's go for around 65-80 on eBay.
Waterproof, 100 splits gets stored in memory, 3 interval timers, 3 alarms, 3 countdown alarms - all that I needed.
Thank you all.
