My P3 aluminum needs a new crankset soon, but my shifters/rear derailleur are all 9 speed. Are there some new options that come in 9 speed still? Does it matter?

You can still find Octalink cranksets on eBay easily, and Shimano still makes a 105-level Octalink BB. Alternately, you can go with something like an FSA crankset. They use external bearings, but they claim they are both 9 and 10 speed compatible. I’m sure there are other aftermarket cranks that are also 9/10 speed compatible.

Q: Will an FSA crank work with my Campagnolo, SRAM, or Dura-Ace 9/10 speed?
A: Yes, FSA Cranks are compatible with all of the above. For more specific information see FAQs on Shifting.
Taks a look at bonktown.com they just had zipp 300’s for just over $200 and should cycle through again sometime today.
I have a newer Ultegra 6600 10-spd crank with my otherwise DA 7700 9-spd drivetrain right now… works just fine.
Pretty much any crank will do. You could run a 6spd crank from 1980 and assuming you had modern (ramped/pinned) chainrings you’d be hard pressed to notice the difference.
That said, I do have a practically new Ultegra crank/bb (<200mi on it) for sale if you’re interested. New style (Hollowtech) design, 172.5 arms.
