Need a boost

When doing shorter races I use Heed on the bike. I want to use something on the run with a little kick. Heed with caffiene, Red Bull(but I can never get all the fizz out), Coke or? Appreciate your thoughts

How short of a race? If its a sprint and youre moving pretty well you will prob finish in 1 hour to 1:20. Thus meaning that anything you take in on the run wont really be utlized by your body, theres just not enough time. It might be different during an olympic. If you take it early in the run you might feel the benefit the last few miles.

I have a buddy that just did his first sprint tri, and he was intent on taking some GU at the start of the bike. Took me a while to explain to him that most people go through sprints with just some gatorade or similar sports drink on the bike. You just don’t burn up enough calories to need to worry about race nutrition in short races.

I’ve just gone with a No-doze and some GU type gel about 10 minutes before the swim start. Then just gatorade on the bike.
