Neck rubbed raw by wetsuit zipper

The wetsuit zipper can wreak havoc on the back of one’s neck. What’s the best way to protect against chafing?

Some wetsuits that have a flap designed to protect against this. What is the best use of the flap - should one lay the flap flat against one’s neck or double it over between the neck and the zipper?

Thanks!

Ken

Make sure flap is pulled up, bodyglide the hell out of the back of your neck also. Some also use a glop of vaseline, but can (reportedly) break down a wesuit since it is petroleum based

probably could use chamois butter as well…i’m guessing…

Duct tape across the back of your neck if it’s REALLY bad…

Hey, Kitty surfaces - did you take a nap after today? BTW, thanks for the awesome Pinot Noir! I will save that for our Slowtwitch training - wine tasting later in the summer.

Why do I get the funny feeling you have used Chamois butter for other things …

lol…i took a 10 minute nap and then went to see War of the Worlds–which was entertaining despite the corny ending. did you go to King’s Island?

how long did it take you to get used to racing in a wet suit?

Well, I NEED the wetsuit as an equalizer to the fishies. I have also had the wetsuit hickies so I guess I’m still not used to it after 3 years of wearing them. I do like the leg buoyancy though so I don’t have to kick

i know it would make me faster, but believe i would fall on my ass trying to get the thing off…lol.

hickies–that’s funny.
