Just a friendly note to all of the Midwestern ST’ers out there. The NCAA Swimming Champs are at Purdue U in W. Lafayette, IN this weekend. I am hoping to make it there(I grew up there) to watch some fast swimming. This meet typically the fastest swim meet in the world in non olympic years so these boys and girls get after it.
For those that want to see some top notch swimming, and see world class stroke technique West Lafayette is the place to be this coming weekend. Be prepared to feel slow after you watch these guys.
So I’m waiting for the evening results, and a poster on the US Swimming boards is reporting that high schooler Kate Ziegler set a couple of SCY national age group records at sectionals tonight and darn near wiped a couple of Janet Evans’ American records off the books in the process.
Her times are being reported as 15:40.89 for the 1650, and a 9:25.51 for the split at the 1000 yard mark. Evans’ overall records still barely stand at 15:39.14/ 9:25.49
Ziegler also set the SCM 800 free American record at a World Cup meet earlier this year. It’s going to be very exciting to see how she does at the long course World Championships Trials in a couple of weeks.

Those are some fast ass times for a HS’er! WOW. I figure Evans recors much like Mary T’s they woul d stand for almost 30 years, she was dominating!
For the Guys out there a girl that I coached who now swims at Texas, Kristi Siminski was 33rd overall in the 100 yd free with a time of 50.3. for those not keeping score that mean 32 other women went 50.3 or faster. SMOKIN!
