That is a big deal. I had hoped the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference would be the first but momentum has stalled with several schools adding the sport. Congrats to the membership of Conference Carolinas for taking a bold step.
New NCAA D1* 5 year eligibility rule is being discussed and voted on in a few weeks, which will be passed.
5 years to compete up to 5 seasons of eligiblity, D1 only at this point. No waivers, no redshirts, and age limit of 24 and/or 5 years from HS graduation. This won’t have a huge impact on ncaa tri but could impact potentially the football/basketball’s of the worlds who are bringing in “pro” level 27 year old Euro’s to fill rosters until this goes into affect.
new usat video on ncaa tri:
Huge impact on cross country if it happens. Well trained practically veteran African runners are taking over many school teams.
IDK how many of you saw this. It’s well deserved. Our very own @BDoughtie, head coach of NKU and the person who is always giving us the inside scoop on Women’s triathlon was named NCAA Triathlon Coach of the year!
Congrats Brooks!
Thanks Stover! All credit goes to my SA’s who bust their ass every day and trust in our process to make them the best human beings while enjoying a crazy sport like collegiate triathlon. I’ve brought 30 people into this program and only 2 so far have had tri experience, so a bunch of ppl taking a chance on our program and sport.
NCAA tri is so damn close to making championship status. 42 programs as of now, we’ll see what that looks like in the fall! Thanks for the shoutout and kind words.
Congrats!
Yeah congrats Brooks!! Thanks @desert_dude for publicizing this! ![]()
with maybe the most puzzling court ruling in the history of NCAA. Star qb for Texas Tech was allowed by a Texas judge to compete this fall after the player was found to have committed more than 1000 sport bets including on his own team. Very clear rule violation and ineligibility issue but the Texas judge handed down only a 2 game suspension. Bewildering ruling and another blow to ncaa athletics.
