NBC'S coverage of "War at the Shore" Video

Okay lets see if you can get through it. I could not and I did the race. Would like to ad that A St’er came in 2nd overall. And know it was not me. although I did beat last years time by 10 minutes and change.

I really shouldn’t have watched that right after eating…

OK so thier coverage wasn’t exactly stellar but they did show that anyone can do a tri if they want to. Hoda admitted that while she finished, she should have trained a lot more and Natalie, who actually trained, did very well.

Instead of focusing on the crappy journalism, we should be focusing on the fact that the sport of triathlon is getting coverage to an audience that might not be familar with the sport. I personally think it’s a great thing for the sport to get more coverage and hopefully get more american’s into the sport.

You are 100% correct they did a great job at getting this out to the beginner or never had done a triathlon before. Hopefully it will get more americans into the sport. Maybe drive up the prize money for the pro’s that work so hard for the meager winnings they get. But remember being on slowtwitch already we are most likely a little more advanced in our training, gadgets and bikes. A follow up segment on the technical and or bike part would be great. Would be nice to see something geared to the alreadt advenced into sport people.

This is pretty cool, but a little painful to watch for sure.

It sends a great message out to the country to get out there and try a Tri! They’re fun, and you really don’t have to take them serious or train. The important thing is fun! I’m sure the dozen or so fatalities in the swim this year were just a fluke. Forget about learning bike handling skills, proper swim form, or how to properly train, and next time some pro like Andy Potts comes screaming through show him who’s boss and hold your line! When he’s being hauled off in an ambulance you can tell him ‘Everyone’s a Winner!’.

Curious as to the extent the camera booms affected bike handling.

x2. It is great to see the sport get some mainstream coverage…

The more the merrier.

Rode by one of the guys with a big tv camera on his shoulder while riding and looked like he was handling the bike fine.

Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays…duuuuuuude, lighten up. That’s an awful lot to pin on two network TV twinkies who decide a triathlon would make a nice segment on a TV show. Don’t think I’ll bump into these two at Savageman next year, but I don’t see how this segment hurt anybody, or the sport in general. I can now go back to forgetting I ever heard of them, and you can too.

I can tell you that the cameras on the bikes presented a problem… I left T1 at the same time as Natalie and almost took her and the entire camera crew out, since she was having such a hard time keeping the bike upright while clipping in…

Thanks for the shoutout!

Damn, I need a job. I watched the whole 6 minutes and 7 seconds.
