OK, this IS pathetic but it’s driving me nuts. I set my DirecTV to record today’s TdF (like always) and made sure it was on main NBC - not NBCSHD like the weekday shows. The recording started at 9:20 Pacific Time, showing as 2 hrs. 40 min. long. After watching normal broadcast, for 2 hours and 10 minutes (with about 26K to go), they went to commercial. When they returned they were showing the Pocono 500 and continued with it until the recording ended.
Did this happen to everyone? Just West Coast? No one else but me? I know it was a weird time for the race to start - did they have contract with NASCAR to show their races with no cuts?
If anyone is kind enough to answer this please don’t tell me who won the sprint. I’m recording a later showing and hopefully it will cover the whole race.
Mine didn’t record at all. I woke up at rolled at the crack of dawn Saturday for a 100+ miler and the whole last half was looking forward to getting home to watch it. I was pretty disappointed, but was able to record a replay and watch it last night.
It switched from NBCSN to NBC when the NASCAR race started. It was on the program guide, you just wouldn’t have thought to do it.
They did the same thing a few hours later with the USATF National Champs. Started on NBCSN, then switched to NBC at the 7 pm time slot (CST).
I caught the NBC recording late, and started it about 1.5 hours in.
Saw that my DVR recorded the NBCSN version for what seemed like the whole stage, so I started watching that one as I was preparing dinner (I like to have it on in the back ground during the early part of the stages). about 20 min in, they are up there talking about who won, how fare LFF was back. Kind of pissed me off since I didn’t have any idea the result, was hoping to watch the stage whole.
Brilliant ploy for NBC to encourage subscription to the NBCSN (it is at a higher tier on Dish). Here is the whole stage minus the final climb, you can watch it, but we’ll cut away before you get to see the end.
I was watching through the NBC sports app and there was a point where there was a message scrolling across the bottom of the screen about them switching to the Pocono stock car race.
I don’t like giving them money for their online services since I already pay for their channels elsewhere but it does seem to be a little easier to use the online service. I also get access to the commercial free broadcast and while I miss the regular broadcasters the two on the ad free do really well and it is great to not have the infinite number of commercials.
Even the app wasn’t foolproof on the last stage, my feed cut out from 5km to 4km to go streaming it live, gave me a message about how my subscription had just expired! I restarted it and only missed the 1000m’s but of course that was the point where I was actually paying attention to who won.
I recorded NBCSN only also. So I missed the last 30KM and awards. I did not realize it was on NBC starting at 2pm eastern.
I recorded the 3 hour replay on NBCSN over night and will watch later. The finish was ruined for me anyways. I avoided all social media, but I subscribe to Velon on YouTube, but I never get notifications. Yesterday I get a notification telling me new video was posted and who the winner was. Hoping the replay I recorded is the 2 hours from NBC that I missed.
Same happened to me through Fubo.

Yeah that pissed me off. And it isn’t the first time NBC Sports has messed up a cycling broadcast either. I love when I record one of the spring classics that they televise at 1:30 in the morning and instead get a hockey game or a horse race. I had to watch the end of the stage (the part where they actually raced) on Youtube.
