The connection between man and dog is incredible. I have shared this story before but it fits here
January 4th 2006 I was stationed with 2nd Medical Battalion at Al Asad Iraq. That day the Marine MPs were working with Iraqi police recruiting at (of all places) a Glass Factory in Rhamadi. An insurgent approached and detonated a bomb. All the Level II and Level III Medical Facilities were inundated with casualities. That day I was working as the Triage Officer. The Blackhawk landed I saw a guy jump out of the Co-Pilots window, cammies torn to shreads bloody and dirty I grabbed one of the Army guys that worked as our liter bearers told him to take him right to one of my fellow Chief IDCs. When the Specialist grabbed him he would not move, that is until his dog/partner was safely off the helo. They maintained eye contact with each other the entire walk to the ER, they did not break eye contact until the Marine saw that the Vet was with his buddy and the dog saw that his Marine was be properly cared for.
Not loyalty. Love.

I was recently laid up with a broken foot. My little bud was never more than two feet from me while I was sitting on my ass for several weeks. Never been a believer in dog stuff until I got this one. I’d take a bullet for that little dude.
Wife was a mess for hours after seeing this video last night. As for me, very difficult to watch. One of the most touching things I have ever seen.
Thanks for sharing. Wife and I are a wreck as our lab would do the same thing. The various youtube videos on this funeral are brutal. Thank God for young men like Jon who go off to war to keep us safe! God bless his family and the families of our other service men and women who have been lost in this war!
