National championships, what is the record for the number won?

I believe Coryn Rivera won her 24th yesterday in the 17-18 women’s road race. Still has criterium and time-trial to go. She is 16.

Last I spoke with Curtis Tolson(Texas Roadhouse), he was a 23 time National Track champ.

I was just reading about Coryn yesterday, very impressive.

I bet Phelps has won more than a 100 of them, just guessing here…

Tolson’s accomplishment might be a lot tougher. At her age there isn’t a lot of competition and Coryn is so much better than the competition she wins about 6 a year in road, track and cyclocross. But also, there is no reason to think this won’t continue for her until she burns out. Getting 23 in track, mostly as an adult I presume, must be really hard.

Jennie Longo has 56 French national titles.

The closest parallel for Coryn is probably Ryan Miller, who had 20-something Junior national titles as well.

He’s the rider she reminds me of the most, having been privileged to watch both of them in action extensively…

I’m not familiar with a lot of sports, but someone in swimming must have a bucket load. Between having 2 nats a year, and that many events I wouldn’t be surprised if some kid racked up a ton then burned out before he ever got a “name”.
