National bike to work day

Tommorow is National bike to work day. Like we needed a exscuse but who is doing it anyway?
I am … wait I am off tommorow but will be riding anyway and have been biking to work through winter when weather permitted.

I live to close to bike… have to walk!

I’m riding, should be interesting on the trails to get to work. In DC they have rest stops all over the place with refreshments, give-aways and such.

I’ll be commuting as usual. It looks like a wet one in Cbus, OH.

Did the Ride of Silence last evening. http://www.rideofsilence.org/main.php Beautiful event. Very few triathletes were riding. Must have had more important things to do.

Same here, I’ll be riding as usual.

This morning’s commute included a motorist stopping in traffic, getting out of his truck and threatening “to f’ing kill me” by “running me over” if I “didn’t get my ass on the sidewalk where I belonged” because I was “holding up traffic”. Be prepared to deal with douche bags like this if you’re going to ride to work. My commute takes me through areas I would typically avoid (for traffic reasons), and yours might too, as a result I leave the house every morning prepared for mortal combat.

I’m in…like I am most every day: Living ~5 miles from work has its perks, like a brisk ride to start & end the work day. Yea, bikes!

I rode in today but I’m off tomorrow.

I’m riding. It’s about 23 miles each way and it took me forever to figure out a route that wouldn’t get me killed. Did it last year without any problems though.

Can only do it during this part of the year as I have to leave at 6am and I want it to be light out.

I actually ride through Trenton N.J. . Funny but the drivers and people are more friendly then the people in the burbs and country side. I go in when the crackheads are just going to sleep and out before they wake up. Well most of the time. Once saw a lady lying on the ground with husband next to her. Being a FF and first responder I stopped to help because I can and it is my duty too. Called work had a EMS engine coming and asked the guy a few questions regarding his wife’s history. He got combative and wanted to throw down. He was like 60-65 years old. No where to go in cycling shoes even against a old man who happened to be big as a ox. Luckily I was able to talk around him dancing a bit before the engine came. Then the captain told him he takes one more step towards his guy who was trying to help out and he would have 5 firefighters on top of him. He calmed down pretty fast. Makes you think before helping someone. You never know

Mine used to be 10 miles but is 8 miles now. Sometimes Leave early both way’s to get some extra mileage in. Not that no one else here would do the same

It’s a PITA to get the kids out of the way to ride my bike from the bedroom
across the kitchen and down the hall.

Well you cant use your clipons for that… you need your feet free to kick or nudge them out of the way

I carry a gun. You never know about how rides are going to go, even if you think the route is safe.

oooh, good to know.

you just needed another reason to bust out the 1080 and disc
.

My office is about a mile from my house, so I ride when there’s no snow (about 5 minutes), walk when I feel like it or it’s snowing or bitter cold (15-20 minutes). Two stoplights. Nice.

Thats gonna be a tough one to accompish. Lets see, walk downstairs to my office…my bike is in the office already…this ain’t gonna work : )

I could ride my bike from one side of the office to the other? Does that count?

Just put your mountain bike in your bedroom, and ride it down the stairs to your office!

I am going with the FP60 with wheelbuilder disc and fp 60 front. 40k and a 6.2 mile brick for me tommorow. Did 40 with same wheel combo today.

I know in Kansas City, Chipotle is giving away a free burrito to anyone who cycles there to eat. Is it happening nation wide, or is this just a Kansas City thing?
