Maybe someone here could build a virtual $20k bike here on the forum. I’m curious what that would be. Start with BMC TT01 frame ~$12,000?
They can’t even spell “triathlon” correctly.

Wouldn’t even be that hard to do. Zipp 900 disc with powertap, 3400. Zipp 1080 front, 1100. SRAM Red or Campy Record 11, 2000. That gets you pretty damn close to 20k (18500) without even really trying hard. Add one of the 1k cockpits and start upgrading bearings, negative weight pedals, etc. and boom.

Looks like a Cyfac

I think this is what she’s saying, hence the expression on his face:
“I’m sorry, Jim, but no matter how much you throw at a bicycle… it can’t make you faster. Only God or hard work can do that… one has forsaken you, and you have forsaken the other.”
Looks like a Cyfac
No, it’s a Wilier. The shop doesn’t carry Cyfac: http://www.cadencecycling.com/products/road/
Obviously it is a Cervelo. It says so right on the white downtube on the bike he is holding : )

Nice!
Sorry if I hijacked this thread. It’s kind of related since they mentioned it in the article ![]()
maybe that is the $18k bike
you could make a really light R3 for $18k!

I figured someone would have suggested Stephanie, The Rocket, or some other goofy name for a bike.
If you’re just trying to blow money I think the DA electric stuff is almost $2K more than even Campy 11. Plus going with something like Lightweight Obermayer wheels would significantly up the price and the snob factor for a road bike like that.
Why is spending a ton of money, to you, on a bike make it a snob factor? I just don’t get why people are afraid of people, or look down on people, etc, because they spend alot of money on a bike. Whats the big deal about riding a really nice bike with really great parts?
I for one LOVE riding a nice bike. It really does make a difference in the ride, the shifting, the comfort, etc. Its like alot of other things, you get what you pay for.
"you get what you pay for. "
If you really believe that you’re a P.T. Barnum special. Absolutely nothing wrong with anybody dropping $20 K on a bike if they want. But please don’t tell us that you’re getting so much more than what you can get for 25% of that in the bicycle market.
Only God or hard work can do that… one has forsaken you, and you have forsaken the other."
This may be one of the greatest quotes ever on this forum, and the timing makes it a thousand times better yet…
I didn’t say you are getting “so much more”. I agree that beyond a point, the returns are minimal. But there are tiny returns, and when and if I can afford them, I’ll take them.

I’m fairly certain that Campy hasn’t released 11spd bar-end shifters - you’d have to go NOS non indexed.
