I get really bad chaffing when I wear tri shorts under my wetsuit. I have heard that I can go naked under the wetsuit for my upcoming IM? Is this a good idea or even possible?
Thanks!!!

Just don’t let the wetsuit peelers peel you!!! There always seems to be a story about a guy a couple of years ago that forgot to put on shorts.
yeah, my wife was watching the IMAZ swim exit this year and the announcer kept saying to watch your eyes, that it never fails there’s always 1 or 2 at every single IM event he does that rushes out after being in the water an hour and just totally forgets gets about it!
Don’t go commando, use Bodyglide.
At the risk of you actually providing pictures, I will nonetheless ask:
Where are you chafing?
Sounds like a wetsuit isn’t fitting quite right, and if that is the case,
imagine the chafing without it.
Then again, maybe your neck is chafing, in which case, don’t pull
the trishorts up so high, Matlock. ![]()

I was peeling wet suits in CDA a couple of years ago, and even when folks were wearing shorts underneath, we sometimes got to see more than we would have liked!!! I did it again in AZ in April, and it seemed that most folks had the proper amount of modesty.
you can get in trouble (ie a penalty!) for being naked in transition, be careful… I stripped in transition one year and found out after there is a “no being naked in transition” rule…
my first im I went commando-it is pretty nerve racking because the peelers at IMLP were like middle linebackers trying to get me to let them peel my suit.
I would say fix your problem with your suit and buy lots of body glide over no gear under the wetsuit.

Certainly not the case down under. They supply male and female tents so you can nude up if you feel the need.
Then again the USA races allow drafting where it isn’t down down under.
I agree, it sounds like there is an issue with the wetsuit, and body glide will probably fix it. One other question, are your shorts possibly bunching up as you pull up the wetsuit? My old Zoot shorts occasionally did that. My new LG’s, which are longer, and use a different leg gripper technology don’t slide up at all. That being said, I always put body glide in high movement areas, and areas that need to get sealed. I use vaseline between my toes because it allows my toes to slide against each other inside the shoes (no blisters), and doesn’t get washed off during the swim.
