Hey all you business owners (Tom, Emilio, etc) or anyone else that would like to advertise at RAGBRAI! I am a member of this years Air Force Cycling Team and will be the member traveling the farthest for this year’s ride. Since this is a voluntary program it is not funded by the AF and the costs have to be absorbed by the riders. International airfare isn’t cheap so I’ve decided to sell ad space on my Softride. For the low low price of $100 you can buy a space for a 2x2ish size sticker that I’ll place on the bike for RAGBRAI and the duration of the Triathlon season. Since I only race in Japan its recommended you include your businesses website on your sticker; we mail order like crazy over here. If you don’t have stickers I can have them made from any single color logo for no charge. Thank you for your support and I’ll see ya at RAGBRAI!
Love the IN-N OUT sticker. Are you sponsored by them?
Not yet I’ve been bugging them but haven’t heard anything yet. If I need the space I guess I’ll have to take it off. Its great to have sponsors that you’d promote anyway (Tom and Emilio, c’mon guys this is you).
Whenever I want to scare my kids, I am going to show them these pics. But I cannot figure out which is scarier…the bike or whatever those frickin things are on your chest o’ drawers.
Umm… Thanks? Hence the need for sponsor stickers, otherwise call me Darth Triathlete The things in the background are called Shisa Dogs. They’re protectors from Okinawan folklore, read more here.
Unfortunately the jerseys and shirts had to be pre-ordered back in
January and were only made available to AFCT members and support
personnel. That is a good idea for next year though, thanks!
Not to make light of your situation, but what is a sponsor getting back for supporting you. Everyday potential sponsors get barraged with hundreds of requests for sponsorship, and rarely is there a realistic idea behind it what that sponsored person might give back to the sponsors.
There are so many people at RAGBRAI, why would the other folks or spectators specifically look at your bike? And if they did, why would they care what stickers are on your bike?
You may say, what do you know about stuff like that and I would answer that I know a thing or two like that. But I am not speaking for Emilio or Tom D here.
I’m with Herbert on this one. No offense intended, but it seems as though you’re really asking for “charity” or a “donation,” not sponsorship. Sponsorship implies that the sponsor will actually get something in return, i.e. exposure. If you want charity you can ask anyone for that, not just business owners. Good luck.
I’m offering exposure. I am on the Air Force Cycling Team, one of the most visible teams at RAGBRAI. I’m also an American racing in Japan; I stick out like a sore thumb. By riding a Softride I also draw attention as it is an unusual bike and aside from my wife’s is the only one I’ve seen on Okinawa. For business in the mail order realm I’m offering great publicity to a population of riders who have no other option than mail order. I’ve ordered from Tom and Emilio’s companies before so I recommend them anyway but having such a company as a sponsor gives them that much more credit as companies that support military overseas.
