Mystery QR Frame?

Anyone know what this is. Its supposedly a “road geometry” bike from QR. The frame reminds me of the 96-97 Private Reserve (aluminum w/ carbon fiber gusset btwn top & down tube). Also has internally routed cable on the top tube.

The guy I’m buying it from doesn’t know the model name (he’s a roadie who doesn’t know much about QR), but he says its a wicked good ride.

Any guesses? Thanks

Tony

I have a '96 Private Reserve. It has no carbon up front. This must be newer than that. It’s still a great bike after 10k+ miles.

I fon’t know much about the history of QR, but by the looks of the cable routing, that could be one of the frames that Mandaric built for QR. Is it a De Luz?

It is not a PR, it’s got road geometry. Those road bikes were pretty good but never sold much. As soon Slowman wakes up we’ll tell you all about this bike, it was done while he was still at QR.

I would guess it is a Borego (1998-ish) or its sister model.

That’s what it looks like.

Here is a link to the 1998 QR web site.

I think you’re right. I’ve got the '98 Kilo PR with the carbon fiber gusset up front and tri geometry. Slowman’s guys made the Borego as the roadie complement with the gusset for added aerodynamics.

Good stuff. Do you have a link to the 1999 QR site?

Just go to www.archive.org and use the Internet Wayback Machine. Type in www.rooworld.com and you can see what the site looked from 1998 to present.

I realize I’m probably the only person alive who didn’t already know about that site but I didn’t. Pretty cool. Thanks.
