My USAT Ranking

While not great in the grand scheme of rankings, I’m up there in NJ for 50-54. There’s a guy who turned 50 this year, who I believe I’ve raced once (and that was in 2010) and who did very well in 2011, but we never did the same race. I haven’t been beaten in my AG for a few years, which says more about the competition than it does me. Our rankings as of 11/1:

Kenneth Lehner: 86.55513
John Dawson: 86.55126

I think I have my work cut out for me over the winter…

On another note, a friend in my AG is currently listed as the first Honorable Mention, at .00002 behind the last AA (it will change, of course).

So… when are you buying your water-car?

So… when are you buying your water-car?

Very funny. It’s all for fun.

But you remind me, I should look Dave up in the rankings.

I have the data with me. EVERYONE that cares about USAT rankings owns a water-car.

I’ll bet John is kicking himself for spending that extra 5 seconds fiddling with his chin strap…

I won’t even pretend I understand how the points are calculated. However, I did only 3 USAT races and got 4th, 3rd, and 1st - this being a regional championship. Yet, I’m waaaay down in the middle of Honorable Mentions… whatever.

Are you going to start doing kick sets?

No time: I need to hit the pull-up bar after swimming.

“So… when are you buying your water-car?”

This made my day!

Guess that means you have to stop ducking John Dawson.

He was at Riverwinds the last year…a great place to lay down some early season smack…but its only a 200 yd swim…rats!

I propose a ST poll function for USAT Rankings so we can determine the avg STer ranking (can’t really do that with a poll, but it will give some level of info).

It’s always fun to check rankings during the year to see how one moves up and down. It’s sort of like NCAA’s college football BCS rankings in a way. You might beat someone head-to-head but they rank ahead of you because they had a “blow-out” race somewhere.
Remember that some “elites” are ranked in there as well as people that haven’t raced at least 3 times and faulty numbers like 303.124!

“So… when are you buying your water-car?”

Just when I think it isn’t possible for you to outdo yourself, you come up with a gem like this. You can rest now, Paulo. Your work on ST is done for the day.

7 figures. Maserati. 8". Cervelo P4 with Zipps.

is that guy still around even?
He was good for lots of entertainment.

Hey guys… the water-car joke went over my head. Any help for the clueless?

There was (is?) someone on this forum who was rather obsessed with USAT Rankings (no, not me), the use of GPS to track athletes and detect drafters on the bike, and some other odd stuff. He had a water car, and his user name had something to do with the chemical formula for water. He got a lot of abuse, and I don’t know if he was kicked out or just took his toys and left.

I still see him as currently registered. Could be banned from posting though.

Speaking of rankings…Is it possible that DNFs are getting ranked? I see in the results that of the 2 columns for rankings, 1 is populated when someone DNF’d. It confuses me and makes me wonder if they might not be getting figured in.
And a DNF can get a great ranking score too, because they are being credited with their T2 time as a final time.

But Ken, that’s a super solid ranking score. You deserve respect for that.
