My saddle nightmare!

I am going the adamo route as I have ‘barse’ issues. The race did not pan out for me so I am working my way down their line until I find one that works for me. The road has a little more padding but feels very similar in aero so you may wish to move further down the line.

I have heard good things about the profile design tri strike and it seems retty good value too

We’ve all been there. After trying many I ended up with the adamo typhoon and only ride in tri shorts. Too much padding and I go numb.

If the Adamo is too wide at the nose, you can try drilling a hole thru the nose and use a big ziptie to narrow the gap. The adamo works great for me but I have heard of this being a help to some people. make sure it’s installed properly as well. there is a pdf on their website that gives detailed instructions on proper installation.

If you go Adamo, I recommend something like the road version instead of race. The extra cushioning is worth it.

Brian:

All through this post, where you able to find a solution to your problems? I’m having crazy issues with what I might be calling saddle sores not knowing if that is what I have. During my training for IM Utah (perhaps halfway through) I had a very nasty case of lacerations on my left side of the posterior sack perhaps close to the pressure point when ON the saddle. This took about three weeks to completely heal all the while I tried using different saddles. I eventually settled for the Adamo and that helped a lot. However, this “saddles sores” problem persist still under different scenarios. If I use my road bike with a wll padded short and my Serfas Triathlon seat and after 30-40 miles I get the sores; if I use my tri-bike with my Adamo racing and tri-shorts I get the sores (this time on the opposite side).

I get the point of perhaps the skin being softer as we age but there has to be a permanent solution to this. I still have the question if what I have are IN FACT saddle sores or something else?

Long story short, no. I have resigned to the Adamo Road as the best of bunch for me. I can sit in aero a whole lot longer with it and it only chafes a little bit which will hopefully cease with a little time and a lot of chamois cream.

Good luck with you search.

Brian

Thanks! I’m partial to staying with the Adamo. There are soooo many factors: Is my tri short padded too thin? Although I applied Assos cream prior to racing, did it wore off during the swim? Was I not seated correctly on it?

The issue with this is that prior to this happening I used to use another brand which I threw away and cannot remember the brand (either Selle San Marco or Selle Italia) and had no issues with it. The obvious thing to do would be to go back to that seat if only I could remember. But i do like the concept and desig on the Adamo.
