How can chainrings be noisy?

chainring bolts loose? Derailleur rubbing on the longer axis of the chainring?
What’s the noise? Mine ticked for a bit before I “over-tightened” the chainring bolts. I put a touch of grease between the rings and the crank and this helped too. I do most of my riding at 88-92rpm in the small ring 40T and 12-15 in the back for ~20-25mph and that ring is pretty smooth. The “big ring” 48T is still a touch rough and makes a little bit of a whirring sound.
Rubbing the front derailleur? Chain needs lubrication?
