My not quite budget, but not quite pjorn, bike porn

Finally got this built up and threw it outside for a quick ride and pics. 08 Fuji Aloha, 54cm. Made a 3.5cm headtube drop from the last bike, so the stem is up until I can get stretching and comfortable on it. :stuck_out_tongue: It seems like they made a decent attempt on this bike. 78 degree STA, 11cm headtube. I’m fairly comfy on it as is, but will be working on getting lower. I feel like I can easily go lower in the front, but 10-20 minutes in, my shoulders begin to ache, so I’m going to have to ease into it.

Sorry the pic is kinda busy with the foliage.

Very nice setup, I wasn’t expecting to see a Fuji when I open up your thread, shit looks clean…love to see different pimp builds on this forum.

THat looks nice, too bad it is a fuji.

Cslone,

That’s a nice set-up…and It’ll be as fast as most bikes you’ll see. Thank god it’s not another cervelo…and I ride a cervelo but not for much longer as I have grown very tired of having that most common bike brand in the triathlon world. I can’t wait to have something different and I’ll guarantee you I won’t be any slower on the new bike.

Yep, it’s a shame it’ll be easy to find in transition.

Thanks!
Ya know, there’s a reason it’s the most popular bike in the world. Cervelo’s are great bikes, but like you, I’m just tired of seeing them.
You know what you’re going to get next?

That’s the Fuji 1.0, correct? I have never ridden one, but, I recommended it to a couple people on my tri team based on the reviews I had read. Great write-ups on weight and ride quality. Plus, I like the looks. Yours looks great with those wheels.

Please post your review after a few rides. Nice!

chris looks good!

Hey, it nice to see some one pimp out a lower end frame. Afterall as long as it’s light and has decent componets who cares about the brand. Granted I’m the world’s biggest Cervelo hater.

I’m a Cervelo fan since getting my r2.5 back in 2004 but that doesn’t stop me appreciating other brands of bike. I think that is one of the nicest looking builds I have seen on the site. It’s looks cohesive as if all of the parts were designed to be together, many of the so-called “uberbuilds” look like an explosion in a paint factory as manufacturers colour schemes clash with each other.

Well done on a well thought out build.

Looks like you live on the set of desperate housewives…

10-20 minutes in, my shoulders begin to ache, so I’m going to have to ease into it…

IMO this may be due to the fact your saddle is tilting down somewhat, from the picture it doesn’t look level with the top tub. This causes you to slip down the saddle and you end up supporting your body weight with your shoulders and upper arms, thus causing the ache.

Try levelling the saddle and then drop it a few mm (about 3-4, I’d say) and see what kind of difference that makes.

It’s a darn sweet looking bike and the componentry on it sure does look cohesive. I’ve never heard of Fuji, but it looks great!

Very nice looking ride. Well done. How do you like the 90’s? Any issues with handling?

By the by, the truck’s clean, yard looks in order, can’t fault your background. Neighbor should straighten his mailbox.

I most likely will be getting a Velovie tribike frame and build it up. I train with a group that includes a distributer for Velovie and I really like the frame. The best part about is…it won’t be a Cervelo - which in my opinion has become the Trek of the triathlon world…somebody purchase one and they become smarter and faster before the even leave the bike shop:).

very nice
and no seat clamp problems (-; Ha ha.

What a nice looking bike from a definately under appreciated company. The also make some nice road bikes.

I agree with the Cervelo comments. Back in 2001 my P2K was kind of unique. Now every schmuck and his brother is riding one. The company has become a victim of it’s own success.

I saw that once I looked at the pic. On the trainer, it looks more level, so I’m thinking my front wheel was slightly higher. With the nose down, I may be sliding forward and putting more pressure on the shoulders.

Thanks.

I like them so far. I haven’t been out on them a ton, but rode around yesterday in 40 mph wind gusts with no issues.

And the yards look terrible here. Cold and more rain in the last week than we had all last year.

Great looking bike, I really like the build of this. I saw some new Fuji bikes at a shop while on Spring break in West Virgina a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed with the design and components that they are using on them lately. I am sure you will enjoy this ride, thanks for sharing…Glen

Thanks, I actually wasn’t really trying, per se, to make everything match as well as it did. But now that it does, I really like it.
