My next victim...step up folks! (TSR)

My next victim as some of you may have read about is a United States Marine. I am fortunate to have more parts than I can even use…so, the Marine gets them. Let me share a bit of the story with you all…

Most of you know the TSR story, some have sent things, others got things…now I am begging…

Thoiught I’d drop you a request for a friend. This is a long deal, but stay with me.

My friend Brian and his wife, Jan, are really great people, he sold me my current bike for basically nothing and really both of them go me into tri’s.

Jan is a physical therapist and has a Marine who was burned in a helicopter crash as a patient. They have been loaning a trainer and bike to this kid for the last few months so he could train for the Lakewood Valley Tri in Owensboro, KY. To give you an idea of his burn state, he couldn’t put a shirt on by himself so he had to ride shirtless and two fingers are fused.

I’m estatic to report he finished the tri (1/2 mi/15mi/5k) even though he wrecked and had to get the chain back on the chainring and with numerous lacerations to his skin grafts, he managed to finiosh unaided.

Unfortunately, Brian kind of needs his bike back eventually, and I guess the trianer but thats another issue, and the bike is too small for the Marine, J.P.

Was wondering if you came across a 58cm ish bike if you might consider contacting me? Doesn’t have to be fancy though some cross stlye brake levers would be good because he can’t really use the hoods position well. (if not ,I think we can get him hooked up w/ those)

Well, I decided that this guy is getting a Softride Rocket TT7 that I have (and did IMLP on twice). The bike will get a Record 9 kit that I have (some Chorus/Centaur mix). Some new Alex wheels that I have…and a Hed that a member was kind enough to donate.

What I need…AERO BARS…cow horns and fully adjustable extentions.

BRAKE LEVERS - I want Dia Comp as they are large and rounded at the end. I plan to put them on the bike “upside down” with the levers on top of the bar - as you can see we need to accomodate for some missing fingers.

FORK - I have a Reynolds Ouzo Pro aero on the bike now, the fork “looks” okay but was in a serious crash - if I could get a fork…that would rock. Needs to fit a size L Softride.

SEAT…I have a couple Flites…but a Tri seat would be nice.

Come on people. We have the parts laying around…time to do something good with them…

Hey, that pic looks like he’s finishing either the European 10k cross country race or the Mud, Sweat, and Gears offroad duathlon at Camp Lejeune…VERY fun races.

Unfortunately, I gifted all of my spare stuff away last year…

I have a set of cowhorns. I think I also have a set of dia compe BL-188 brake levers too. They’re not really rounded though. Let me know where to send them.

Would he be able to use one of my early edition Genesis Ti Aero Bars. I’d be happy to offer one of them up. They are the ‘early’ edition 1 piece bars so let me know.

I would need to see the bars as I am not familliar with them. Adjustability will be key here…also, cable routing.

I have a set of Profile Design CarbonX aerobars that am whiling to send you if you want. It will take time since i’m in portugal right now but if you need i will gladly send it by monday or so. they still have the IMaz sticker on it ;-).

I have Profile Design cow bars and an old Selle seat that came stock on my 03 Talon. Let me know if you can use those. Email me at pschmidt@tilfordlaw.com. I can’t remember the version of aerobars the PD’s are, but they have the winged arm pads, which I hated.

Carbon X would be perfect, if your are new(er) I will put my Carbon X on the bike, and yours on mine (IM Winning sweat still on them I hope)

i am fortunate enough to have a few people that believe in me and had me join Sergio’s team (team timex)…so:
I have a set of the 2 piece vision tech (cowhorns and clip ons) with dia compe brake levers (no barend shifters though). the clip ons are cut quite short however, but with a long stem it could work.
I also have a fork profile 700 (1’') bladed aero with alu steerer.
3 helmets size medium.

It all could help, I have had many many requests - and at this point am trying to focus on the marine. This is a “business” thing also. Though I am not at all out for personal gain, I do want TSR to work - and beleive with my heart it can. This particular project could be quite visible and certainly for a great cause…the more we can have it visible that TSR helps people, and the sport - the better chance we have of getting the whole thing to really take off. Sure, it is nice that people have recieved bars, pedals and other things…but getting this bike for this man…to me seems more fulfilling.

I have a set of NEW DC BL-188’s that I’ll send to you.

But I also wanted to ask about a set of cow-horns that I have. They’re Profile Airwings, but pretty old. Not many miles on them at all (I used them on the track a couple times). The problem with them is that they don’t have the straight section at the end to allow for plug-in type brake levers (road levers would work on them though). Is this something you would want?

Hey, I don’t have anything that you asked for, but I live in Owensboro and did the Lakewood Valley Triathlon. Does the guy live near Owensboro? I would like to meet him and donate him some tri-clothes or even train some with him. PM me. Or have him contact me.

I’m in the Owensboro phone book. What a great story, I wish I could’ve meet him at the race.

I think we all need to step up and get this guy some TSR gear. It only seems proper!
