My new website

Hey guys,

My new website is finally live after being developed for some time. Althlough not completely finished, it is up and running. Let me know what you guys think, ie: likes dislikes, changes made ect.

www.fitcenter.net

It might take a few seconds to load at first, and make sure that you have speakers on.

Thanks!

Nice sight…

Francois…somehow I guessed only you would get it …

Get rid of the flash, or at least offer a button to get a plain html version of the site.

I’m on a slow broadband, and it took a while to load for me, anyone on dialup is screwed. Most flash sites have a button allowing you to go to the plain version without waiting for all the fancy flash graphics to load.

Ditch the speech. If someone is looking at this from work (not that any slowtwitchers would be browsing at work I’m sure) then just what you don’t need in a quiet office is a booming voice saying “what is fit” from your little cubicle.

Personally, I don’t like flash, I think it’s most commonly used to jazz up mediocre sites that don’t have enough interesting content to hold people’s attention. Yours looks quite good, but the flash and vocals just stop me going much further into it.

Sorry to be a downer, but that’s my opinion.

I like the Flash work. I say get a broadband connection!

Francois…somehow I guessed only you would get it …

Wrong.

Because he is from Nice?

That was a lot of work, and very professional. Don’t dumb it down for dial-up.

The fellow who mentioned the speech, may have a point–not the part about being at work–because I don’t think it adds anything, and is a little annoying and dramatic.

FWIW

95% of our business is based on our web site. Be sure you research flash as some browers cannot open it and it’ll appear as an “X”…thats a bad thing! It is labor intensive to open a web site that is that busy. I 'clicked" on the enter site and still had to wait for the flash intro to end. I couldn’t get in without viewing the flash intro. Research states the site must load within 3-5 secs or viewers will leave.

I realize our businesses are much different and maybe site design can be different also, so keep this in mind .

Now you need to be found on the web. I hired a web opimization company to move my web site higher in the rankings for 6 key words. In my last Inn we were #1 on Yahoo, MSN and AOL and #6 on Google for our key words, within 6 months of hiring the firm. Our business exploded. We reached our 5 year plan in 15 months and sold the business for a huge profit. Lots of the increase was based on web presence.

Sorry if this comes across the wrong way, it was not meant to at all. Just helpful suggestions from one business to another. The more you know, the more $$ you make!!! Hope this helps!

The site isnt done yet, it will have skip intro button, and a flash or html choice- It will also have a status bar telling you when it is loaded. The audiorollover (voice over) is standard for it no way around that- cool thing is that the voice is the voice that has done almost every movie trailor out there! We are using google ad words and overature to optimize the site for searches.

Thanks for the info- the only bad suggestions are the ones that are not suggested!

Remember that over 50% of internet users are on diallup. With no option other than flash, you just lost 50% of your possible market. If you’re going to market via the web, market to all of it. If you’ve gone to all the effort of producing a cutting edge flash site, it wouldn’t be too much extra effort to produce the pages in straight html and offer an option to go direct to it.

By doing this you double your market at very low cost. Can’t see why you wouldn’t want to do that.

Adwords and Overture are “pay per click”. If you hire a firm for 1/10th the cost of “pay per click” they will optimaize your web site so that it appears at the top of the search engines without paying per click. I reduced costs from $800 per month to $75 per month when I stopped pay per click and paid the optimization firm. Overture and Adwords are very expensive ways to increase web visits. send a private message and we can discuss this option of you like…this is not an advertisement I don;t do web site optimization…just a nice guy willing to help!

Nice site.I put one together and it is not easy.Check mine out www.trizilla.com
.

The eyecandy is too big–on my DSL line I counted to ten and was about to close the window when I finally started seeing something other than the initial graphic. Never even bothered to go past that…if I didn’t, even though I was curious enough to go there, how many others will do the same.

I’ve been doing websites for over ten years, a couple of examples are altacam.com and exerscape.com, and have come to firmly believe in lots of info up front. Look at google–nothing fancy, just info. Put the big eyecandy on a link–that video of my wife skiing at Deer Valley on altacam.com gets downloaded so much it blows us away.

Just my 2 pence…

Screw 'em. Keep the pressure up for universal high speed internet access.
