My New Tri Bike ... 2005 Madone SL 5.9

Just got done building my new ride. Dura Ace 10 speed, Profile Carbon-X, FSA Compact Cranks, Corima 4-spoke Rear, Corima Medium Front, East CT2 SeatPost (run in reverse to achieve about 77-78 degree seatangle). Thought I would share.

Good enough for Tim Deboom, good enough for me. Nice bike.

I didn’t know the Easton post would do that… did you modify it in any way?

Looks so nice!

No modifications what-so-ever. However, this post was discontinued a couple of years ago. You might be thinking about the EC70 which came on alot of high end bikes over the last couple of years. That post you cannot run in reverse.

Whoa, nice bike.

You have me totally confused with your set-up and choice of parts, but trust you know what you’re doing if you’re laying down that kind of cash…

I can see how my choice might cause some confusion. All I can say is that it fits like a glove and for me was the right choice. It even has some room left for me to get lower as my fitness improves.

amen to road bikes ‘converted’ to Tri bikes…have done the same with my Orbea Orca…I’ll post a pic here again…

No please, please keep the pictures of that Orbea bike of yours away from us ‘poor’ folks!

Nice bike but would have left the seatpost as it was and gone with a more roadie Tt setup.

enjoy!

he he he he he…here it is

.

Yeah yeah, in July when I come back to Europe my new Orbea will be waiting for me in Jerez!

I’m glad Gibraltar and Sth Spain is having the coldest winter in 90 years and some of us are lucky to be leaving tomorrow for sunny asia!

cold…0 degrees the other day in the morning…coldest spell in living memory!!! so you’re buying an Orbea then??? or are you pulling my leg?..if you are you will NOT be dissapointed!!!

We got -4 c from the yachts systems last Wednesday in Queensway Quay marina, just after 4am. Mierda! We had frost on the decks so bad all our shoes froze onto the decking.

Yep I think its the Orca TDE in Orange/Yellow with DA 10spd. Deposit paid to the guys in the bike shop around the corner from the bus station in Jerez. The owner of the yacht I just delivered could not pay me the money he owed me in cash so he put the depsoit on his visa and I will pay the balance when it arrives. Got a huge deal because the shop gets to have it sitting around until late June, I think it was 30% or a bit more off plus free shoes and helmet but still was around 4300euros.

Hey bud,
We ride at 8:30am on Sundays departing from the customs post this side of the border if ever you’re around Gib on a Sunday…my number is 76596 at ‘work’ and 44664 at home…if calling from Spain add 9567 if calling from elsewhere in the world, like France, it’s 350…

Thanks. I like your Oreba as well, great looking set-up.

Will drop you a line mid/end June.
We are riding from Gib to Londres via Sagres, Sines, Cascais and La Coruna so plan on our last fiesta in Gib before we ride out.

Could always do with an extra support person if the sister-in-law is free

he he he…drop me a line…

On the Sunday before you go, if you’re here, we can do a warm-up Gib-Gaucin-Gib via Jimena ride for you for example…great roads. They have recently resurfaced the road up to Gaucin (11km climb) and it’s fantastic…

…personally, I normally ride from 85 to 100m on a Sunday so the Gaucin ride is tough but hey…always a good experience…nice switchbacks…altitude of 630m from our sea-level start…you’d like it.

Done it before on a 39-23 at the back so it’s not that tough to climb…recommend a 25 at the back though…now if you want tough do our hill climb TT sometime between Aprilk and May…
