My mantra this year? Fat Is Fast

Okay, not exactly the most “Tri” specific topic at all, but I’ve been drooling over fat tires on my 'cross bike as of late.

How fat’s too fat? Going to try and fit 29x2.1’s on this beast.

Also, diesel engine body types are where it’s at for long-distance gravel riding. Questions: see Dan Hughes

That looks great! How much clearance do you have at the fork and chainstays? I am interested because I want to cram some 40’s onto my cross bike too but it looks like there will only be 1/8" clearance on either side of the tire.

Rich

You can’t tease us like that without showing us the rear.

Meant to upload this sooner. Here’s the clearance at the seat stays:

Room for more!

2.1s ?
Done !
And works great too. Pic here.

Why the backwards fork? Did it make the trail right?

Fork is set up normally, it just has a reverse arch (manitou minute). Purpose of the reverse arch is that the arch can be designed shorter with the same tire and mud clearance as a standard arch. So you get a stiffer fork with zero weight penalty.

Couple more shots of the tire clearance with 700x40 Clement MSO X’Plor. I think we can go bigger!
