It has been cold here in the mornings and I noticed on my runs that my I-phone doesn’t hold a charge. Two mornings in a row. What normally is a 8-12 hour charge is reduced to 70 minutes and then it is done.
If you’re using a fitness tracking app battery life will be reduced. I also keep my phone as close to my body as possible in cooler weather so the battery doesn’t poop out as quickly (below freezing in my case)
GPS is a power hog on some phones … are you running Bluetooth as well?
I don’t know if what you experienced is unique to IPhones or to all smart phones in general. This past weekend I had my IPhone in the outer pocket of some insulated coveralls on a pretty cold day and when I took it out to take a photo is said the battery was dead. Yet, when I took it inside and plugged it in it said “60 percent charged”.
Has happened to me on my rides where the phone sits in an outer chest pocket. Going forward I will keep it close to the body where my body will keep it warmer and the charge will hold. I hope.
unfortunately, that’s just batteries in general. As im sure you know, batteries work by a chemical reaction. Reactions are have temperature dependence. The lower the temperature, the lower the rate of reaction and the quicker your phone will die.
