Just fork over whatever it is I’m looking for and attach the best way to contact you. If I like it, I’ll call. If not, I reeeeeaaaaalllllyyyy don’t want to field your call and have to put up with your sales pitch and subsequent repeat call where you have NO F’ING CLUE who I am but still have my # in your database. I’m gonna find out what it is I want to know one way or another so don’t go out of your way to PISS ME OFF. Just hand over the goods!
If it public information then why do you need this particular site to find it? Sounds to me like you want someone else to do all the prospecting and free consulting for you and not give anything back in return…

You are so right , you want to look up one thing , Please register aaaaarrrhh . I spent a week looking at every pop-up ad , spam e-mail actively to get interested in what they are selling , not one thing was any interest to me.
Once they had customer numbers 8 - 10 numbers , you would enter that and the card number DONE 20 seconds . I think employees abused that with business orders . I wish a simple alpha numeric code could just by-pass it all .
The worst are the forums with low traffic , you register / ask a question and get a reply in Jan - 2009. Or come back and you need a new password after a year - once you try changing it " sorry this user name has been taken " WTF GFYS
I have a yahoo email address I use for such things and I never check it. If it is something not important that you will only use once, why not use fake addresses.
