About a month ago I posted seeking the best price for a Polar 625x, and one of the responders recommended http://www.heartratemonitorman.com. I think a couple other people chimed in to say that they had good transactions with him as well. I emailed the guy and asked him for a few quotes based on different options configurations, and a bunch of other questions too. He responded quickly, and provided me with his office and cell numbers so I could call to place my order (his website is a little out of date).
I placed my order, but asked him to delay shipping until I could confirm my travel plans, and he was totally cool - he packed everything up, and stuck it on the shelf with my name on it. On the Wednesday before the Monday I was due to leave, I called him and told him to ship. Then I went to work, and learned that my trip had been cancelled! I called him right back to hold the shipment, but he was already on his way back from the post office - this dude moves FAST. He told me I could have the hotel ship the package back to him, and he’d send it to me wherever I needed it. I responded that I’d try to get the hotel to ship it to me, but thanked him for the offer.
I called the hotel and asked them to hold the package for me, and they said “no problem”. Then, when it was due to have arrived, they couldn’t find it! It appeared that the hotel lost my package. Finally, they discovered that they had refused the package because my reservation had been cancelled - even though I had been assured on 2 separate occasions that they would hold/ship it for/to me.
While I was laying into the hotel manager, my cell phone rang and it was the HRMMan - he had just recieved my package, and wanted to let me know that it was safe as well as wondering what I wanted to do next. I did not know my travel plans as of that moment, and he asked if I wanted him to refund my cc and then re-order when I had more finalized plans, as he didn’t feel too great about having both charged my card and yet still having my goods. I told him to just hold onto the package for me and I’d call him back when I had finalized my schedule.
About 2 weeks later I sent him an email with a new shipping address, as well as instructions NOT to ship until I called to confirm. I also asked him to send it overnight express, and to charge my card whatever the cost was, as I was only going to be there for 3 days. He called me back to say that he received my message, and that it was packaged and ready to go - but that he would not do a thing until I called to confirm. I called him from the airport about 10 minutes before boarding my flight, and confirmed shipping. He gave me a tracking number on the spot (still not sure how he did that) and asked that I let him know once I received the package.
2 days later it arrived, very well packed and protected.
The HRMMan is a solid guy with fantastic customer service, and prices far below anything you’re likely to find anywhere else. He is also a doctor, so don’t be surprised if you call his office and get a receptionist for a doctor! (I thought I had the wrong number at first)
I wholeheartedly recommend him if you’re looking for a new HRM or any related accessories. Go ahead and tell him I sent you if you like - I won’t make any money off of it, but I did tell him that I’d be recommending him to everyone I know.
