My boy Saul Raisin rocked the Pro Peloton today :-)

I have known Saul Raisin since he was 14 years old and when he first showed up on local group rides here in Chattanooga. He grew up in Dalton, Ga about 20 miles from here and stuck out very soon as a very fast, talented kid who could make us all suffer like dogs.
His parents were very supportive of his racing and training and for some reason I have become a friend of the family and a bit of a mentor to him. He had some fantastic results already and hung tough in the Tour de Georgia with the best of them. Today though in the Monster Mountain stage of the Tour of Germany he showed that he is a contender for the future. I am so proud of him.

In all the talk about “heirs”, Saul has got to be the sleeper. My hope is the same as with any young pro. Bring him along slowly. Let’s nurture this group of young pros so we can enjoy pro cycling stateside for many more years.

What’s amazing is, the kid broke his hip earlier this year. He’s up there with some of cyclings big dogs only a couple months after his injury.

The very top American cyclist are mostly over 30. Danielson and Raisin are the future. It’ll be interesting to see if Discovery Channel tries to lure Saul from Credit Agricole. Money talks.

I just want to know when Tailwind Sports (Disco/Postal) drops Trek and final sees the “Lite” and goes with the ABG boys instead… just imagine… 800g Ghisallo’s on the mountain stages… Compact vortex’s and Vortex’s for the flat stages… and ooooohhh yeah… a fleet of BLADES for the time trials… I would love to see that (no need for UCI comments… i know the stupid rule)

So Herbert… when are you going to bump off the Waterloo, Wisconsin crew… we all know who makes the superior product.
