My apologies to all french people here in the US

We welcome you. There are some on this board who are xenophobes, but remember the loudest people are often the most ignorant, and this board is not representative of the US.

Feel free to criticize our country. We are strong enough to listen. Only those who are weak in their convictions or close-minded will take offense.

The best line against :

“Don’t like our country? Then get out!”

is:

“What, and become a victim of your foreign policy?”

I will transmit the message
.

I second RB’s comments.

Welcome to the USA.

been here for 4 years now
.

It’s a blanket statement…I’m 4 yrs late…welcome anyway.

I thought it was my job to pull random things out of my ass. You are learning well my son.

I would like to apologize to all cats who’s owners don’t empty there litter boxes enough and drivers who have to sit in traffic because someone is rubber necking a wreck.

Cheese-eating surrender monkeys!

Cheese-eating surrender monkeys WITH TASTE

at least we have our priorities right, you bunch of uneducated, big car driving, popcorn eating fat americans
.

Get it right man…

I’m an overeducated, too-poor-to-have-a-car, popcorn(no butter!)-eating American.

And I’m slow.

Cheese-eating surrender monkeys!

Nothing against frnech chees. Have just spend two weeks bikikng in the french alps. Never tasted anything better than french chees.

Cheers Torsten

French cheese is good except Brie. I can’t get into it…

Wow! something I agree on with Brian!
Heck, the deficit may get better after all

  1. goat cheese (crottin chavignol)
  2. Comte
  3. Camembert au calvados

now, we’re talking!

The French have some of the best food. I ate like a king over there and the meals weren’t overly extravagant. They had great beef (bouef) and salads. I had a few days where I took a car and drove from Mulhouse to Colmar and stopped in on several wineries in the Alsace. I’m more of a deep red wine drinker and this region is known for its whites. A beautiful area. Had I relocated there I would have been in cycling heaven. Small and rural but that’s my kind of area. The village I would’ve lived in is called Belfort which was a cool town centered around a very old fort (fort de’ Lyon)…my flat would’ve been right in the confines of the fort perimeter.

one of the nicest areas of eastern France indeed…cold in winter though.

Agreed. I was there in Feb/march and it snowed like hell every day.

Lordy…

OF COURSE we’re strong enough to listen. But we also expect others to be strong enough to listen when we give a well-thought out and reasonable response. Not everyone in Europe is wise, and kind and fully self-actualized, dude.

Also, I don’t think that smart people here in the US would expect France or Germany or others to completely forgo their own national interest just for the sake of jumping on the good old “xenophobe” bandwagon that we’ve got going these days. But, we also have a right to expect that our FRIENDS won’t actively try to undercut and diminish our actions and sometimes actually out-and-out take our enemy’s side.

Sorry, rb…sycophancy is so passe these days.
