Must do & see in Portland, WA

A last minute business trip has me in Portland this coming Monday & Tuesday. Anything I must do and/or see? Any ST’ers interested in a little get together?

You could give clinics on how to finish races on little training while you’re there. Because there’s a lot of people out there doing it, but none with your success

Where is Portland, WA?

I’ve been to Portland, OR and Portland, ME. Lived in Washington. Never heard of Portland, WA.

What’s ironic is that you are from Vancouver, BC and Portland, OR is right across the river from Vancouver, WA. Ironic… ain’t it?

D’oh. I’m actually going to do some work in Vancouver, WA but am staying in Portland, OR. That post was made as I was dashing out the door on my way to an appt.

Oops.

Try the Portland City Grill…great bar with an amazing view and the food is pretty good.

If you are looking to go for a run check out Forest Park, one of my favorite places.

I live in NE Portland. Portland/Vancouver has quite a lot of triathletes in general & lots of IM training tri with several top IMH finisher & top age group athletes. There are lots of great places to train & opportunities to train with various tri groups.

On Sunday one of the local tri clubs (Geckotriclub.com) is putting on an open water swim race with several distances from 800 to 2.4 miles.

4xIMH finisher, 5x IMC

I wonder how lucrative the market is? I should become a coach! KTS, anyone?

Thanks - I think I’ll try a run there tonight. Haven’t run since Oliver as my knee was feeling pretty messed up, but it hasn’t bothered me for a few days so maybe a nice trail run will be just what the Dr ordered.

Not to hijack your thread but I am going to the Columbia River Gorge area (Hood River) for two weeks starting July 7. Any ideas where I can ride around there?

Mainly going to windsurf but have Vineman coming up upon return. My biggest fear is I will spend too much time at the Full Sail Brew Pub…

Go to Powell’s bookstore. See if there is still a vintage tri book in the sports section by Mark Allen, written during his first few (unsuccessful) ironman Hawaii attempts. Interesting and humorous read. I’ve never seen it anywhere else and always regretted not buying it…
