Well, where are they??? Anywhere besides the race website?
I don’t think the results are posted yet.
Ryan Jones from Philadelphia was first overall and Donna McMahon (sp?) was the first overall female.
It was a fun day out there…however, the weather took a cruel turn for the 5+ hour finishers when the sun came out in full force around noon. It went from low 80s, humid and overcast to 90’ish, humid and very sunny in a hurry.
This race was really well done. The course is quite a good one, other than the beach area of the lake being a little nasty. The Musselkids race was quite fun to watch.
Cheers,
Matt
I would have prefered you saying the race was horrible…it would have made my situation, being stuck in Tuisa, OK, less annoying
.
Francois,
Would it help if I told you that there weren’t any cookies (other than animal crackers) at the post-race meal? I always appreciate a cookie or two after a race and there weren’t any. I was forced to suffer through it with the peach cobbler. I’ll continue the suffering with my Musselman bottle of wine tonight.
How was your night at the Tulsa Holiday Inn? I presume you made it home okay on Saturday?
Later,
Matt
made it at 2pm! despite leaving Tulsa at 6am…and it’s a 1h30’ flight to El Paso…somehow they had us fly to El Paso via Salt Lake City!
bike showed up too…
Matt-
If you’re the Matt I think you are…you kicked ass !
And you’re right…great race!
Jeff Henderson & Co did a fantastic job all together.
Post race food needs some work, but, hey if that means jacking up the entry fees…I’ll stick w/ the cobbler : )
Francois-
You need to do this race next year.
The bike course is as fast as it gets.
Super flat…slight headwind for the first 25,but a great tail the rest of the way.
Hey BTag-
It was good to see you ,as brief as it was.

SF,
Thanks for the kind words…I had a pretty good day, I struggled to keep my pace up in the last few miles of the run, but other than that I was steady all day. I was three seconds slower than my Eagleman time from a month ago…kind of funny, huh? I tried hard to catch Jesse Smith…I was about 200 to 300 yards behind him from miles five though 12 of the run. He pulled away a little bit in the past mile. He ran a real nice, steady run…it is always hard mentally to be chased.
How’d your race go? It sure got hot, eh? The bike course is great, huh? Good pavement almost the entire way and wide shoulders on the roads that get any traffic. I did have one of the horse-pulled buggies pull out in front of me on a downwind, downhill section and had to slam on the brakes to avoid it. I don’t think the driver realized I was going as fast as I was.
Cheers,
Matt
Hey Matt-
I never saw one of the Mennonite buggies…I was looking out for them though.
My race went as planned, nutrition was spot on, but at the 4 mile mark of the run I came down w/ a huge headache(migraine) and some legs cramps that never went away.I hated to struggle during the run, especially since I had a great swim, and really for the first time, held back on the bike to set up for a good run(my limiter).
It wasn’t heat related as I live in the Northeast and train in this weather.
Its just one of those things.
Still enjoyed the weekend.I’ll be back for sure in 06.
How about those IronKids and Bagpipers?
Awesome!

PS:Ryan Jones and Terry Kerrigan are monsters on the bike!
Kerrigan’s 2:16 bike split for that course is very impressive!~
never been to upstate NY, so a good reason to go next year…
I was really eager to race there…darn!
Matt: good job!

Anyone know why the 2nd and 3rd place male finishers in the Sprint were Disqualified?? Results say Curt Eggers and Brian Emelson were DQ’d.
There was a LOT of drafting going on on the bike course though during the Sprint. Blatant and obvious.
It was a great race yesterday (I did the sprint). Sprint bike course was fantastic and the run course nice and flat. A bit wavy on teh swim (I was in the wave with the White caps, being 30 and female) but overall, just a great race.
I did the Sprint also and I would go back again next year. The only two very minor negative things I have to say about the race were that the bike numbers (held on my twist ties) weren’t so great and the long walk to shore after the swim kinda sucks.
Other than that, I really enjoyed the race (it’s my 2nd race thus far) and thought it was very well organized.
The swim was enjoyable when it was swimmable depth, the water was clear and cool and the swim course was clearly marked. I really enjoyed the bike leg, I thought that the wind was pretty bad for the first 6-7 miles out, but as I forgot my bike computer (duh), I have no idea how bad it really was. The road traffic was pretty sparse and the course was nice with some good rollers.
I hated life on the run, I was feelin pretty darned slow but it was a nice course running alongside the lake.
Overall Kudos to the RD and his crew. I would go back.

My buddies Curt and Brian didn’t follow the bike course properly (i.e. wrong turn).
Too clarify: Not on purpose. They just didn’t know the course. Curt should know better!
On behalf of Elite Bicycles Inc., I would like to congratulate Ryan Jones, Matt Thibodeau and Greg Sullivan on their successes at Musselman.
Congratulations boys - you earned it!
Warmest regards,
