Musselman - feedback

fun? Nice? course? etc…

thinking about going now that mr MRI said ‘go boy, your achille is fine’

really fun - c’mon, get on board, I went to see what a Smurf on a bike looks like.

I did the sprint last year, and am coming back. Great area, nice race venue, done up right. I heard a lot of people in town turned out to watch the run, including a girl who played violin as the athletes ran by her house. Bike through rolling hills, one big (?) hill on the run course. Finish by running along the lake. Winners get wine from local vineyards.

Can you tell I like this race?

I’d rather have some playing all along the watchtower when running but hey, it still looks fun…
where would you fly into?
what town is it? (for lodging)

winners get wine?? better not win then…my last experience with alcohol has left some marks!

Frog,

Are you a local CNY’er? I live in Syracuse and will be racing the half-IM again this year…looking forward to it.

Matt

this is my first year doing it but i’ve trained on the course 2X. it’s a beautiful bike course, passing 5 (i think) wineries and two of the finger lakes. i know at least part of the run is along senaca lake which is picturesque. jeff henderson puts on a very well run race - it should be fun.

you could fly into syracuse or rochester. probably equal distance. i know from living in rochester, that the airport is super easy to get in and out of. if you need help in any way, feel free to pm me. i live about 40 minutes from the course.

The closest airport is Rochester, NY. The drive from there would be slightly less than an hour. Syracuse NY is slightly further away but you can still drive from there to Geneva in about an hour.

At this point, I would bet the town, GENEVA NY is almost completely booked up. However, there are many nice small towns nearby that have hotels within about half hour of the race. These towns are:
-Penn Yann (south and slightly west of Geneva)
-Watkins Glenn (south of Geneva on the lake)
-Canandaigua (about 15 miles away to the west of Geneva and on it’s own beautiful lake)

Geneva is a nice little town and the lake (Seneca the largest and deepest NY FINGER LAKE) has wineries all around it. My family rented a cottage some years, at the end of the vacation we were a few brain cells down and a about a case of wine richer.

It’s a nice place to visit and the lake is beautiful.

I’m doing the sprint for the first time this year.

I’ll be sporting my peaceful tribe hat and hope to meet lots of you.

no, I live in south Jersey. Just read Jeff’s stories last year and decided to make the trip (5 hours) with gf. this year, we persuaded two friends to go. Last year I was in the Holiday Inn outside of town, this year, I got rooms at the Chanticleer.

Dude-

We’re at the Chanticleer too.

Anybody ever been there before? The name sounds pretty cheesy…

oh hell, I’m on the phone with them right now, trying to cancel

either that, or I’ll sic my obnoxious friend on you!

look for an overweight guy with long salt and pepper hair and a huge tattoo on his back

that’s not me

It is totally CHEESY.!!!
But, thats why I always triple-book.

I’m in theory also supposed to check in at the Microtel.
I’ve got a scout checking the lodgings for me,then I’ll start cancelling as he tells me which to go with.

Wasn’t Chanticleer some crazy horny rooster or something?

Hmm…they do have a website but it looks like an old HOJO renovated or something…

Francois-

I’m in. got a room, thanks

It’s run by an engineer. Computer guy like yourself. Wrote the whole online registration program himself so he wouldn’t have to pay Active. He is an alumnus of my alma mater. Nice little article on him/Musselman in our alumni mag, which is actually how I first found out about it. Tell him you are a pro-triathlete AND a pro-computer-geek, and I’m sure you’ll get free entry…

Have a great race.
