Muskoka Long Course: Slowtwitch Poserfest...who is going?

…as they say, Muskoka feels like the National Championship for Ironman dudes given the number of people who head up to get slots of IMLake Placid, IMC, IMF, IMWisconsin !

Who amongst you will be at Muskoka this weekend for the Long Course tri ? I’ll be there in full poser mode sporting a single spacer on the front end of my Guru Trilite. You guys can check out my lame ass position in real life as I would not dare post it here in fear that I would be slammed for using one spacer and a girly boy 48/34 front chainring set

Anyway, I will be staying at www.fairybay.ca. From Friday afternoon till Sunday. This is the one event that my family actually joins me for as I fork out more than my normal “$0 for camping in the transition zone deluxe accomodations” .

If any of you want to contact me for any easy swim or ride on Saturday, my cell is 613-297-0091.

i know of at least 7 of us from the windsor area headed up for the race.

will be my first time at this race (or even in the area!) and am looking very forward to it. my training partners have done it in the past and i’ve never heard a bad thing about the race from anyone, so my expectations are high!

You will love it. Great race, nice countryside and looks to be a slew of great racers. Wish I could get away to go myself!!
Good luck Dev!!!

I’m dating myself here, but I have done this race (or a variant of it) in 1990, 91, 97-04, so it will be my 11th time at Muskoka. I think I have seen every type of condition from 5 degrees and rain to mid 30’s 100% humidity Ontario Tropical rainforest simulation. For the moment, the long term forecast looks pleaseant.

Anyone know if they have fixed any of those monster size crack in the pavement on the bike course that could swallow up not only your front Zipp 404, but a Hummer as well ?

Hey Dev!

Good Luck at Muskoka this weekend. Glad you’ve got rid of those spacers! Now all you need are a set of red S-bends to complete your poser transformation!

This picture from Epicman shows that you were way too high. Also I hope you take my advice and not use the track disc upfront!

I’ll be there doing the LC as well…hoping I get a chance to meet/see Simon Whitfield and Luc VL.

I’ll be there as well, riding an '02 Guru Crono (yellow and blue) (Men 30-34).

Trev, you have a studly aero position and your riding compliments it. When I was 28 I could ride like you/Boardman (at least the position, complete with Look Ergostem almost touching the front wheel). Now, I sit up and ride like a sail. Must be the years and cumulative miles on my fragile body.

Hey Fleck, if you are reading this, will you be out there with your significant other. If so, kick my ass if you see me dogging it on the run.

Also, will our man JKMorrow be there (he is the hero thread dude who adopted two sons last Xmas and we bought the bikes for).

Cheryl and I are in. We are coming up on Saturday and staying at the Holiday Inn.

Hey folks…just getting ready to head out today ! Weather for race day looks reasonable. Again, call my cell (613-297-0091) if you feel undertrained and need to get in some last moment swimming or riding in on Sat or Sun…or even if you want to hang out by the beach.

Eric F, I’ll try to drop by the Holiday Inn and catch up with you. We are only a 5 min ride away on the other side of the Lake from where you are staying. Good luck on defending your “top amateur” title.

efernand, I’m from detroit area also and I’m going too, how long of drive is it. Mapquest says about 6.5 hours but that seems like alot.

Thanks, Good luck

Good luck everyone! Sounds like it will be a great race!! Wish I could be there.

That sounds about right. I am from outside Toronto and it would take me about 4 hours. And you are about 2-3 hours away from me.
Good luck all!!

Yeah, it’s a long drive. I take the Bluewater Bridge, it’s seems to be faster, and the 402 seems less crowded than the 401. If you run into traffic around TO, it can add some time. Take the 407 around TO also, but expect to get a bill in the mail in a few weeks.

On the way home, stop at Webbers (I think) for burgers. It’s a cute place on the East side of the highway. It’s made up of rail cars.

I’m heading up on Saturday morning.

Good luck.
