The story I wrote about the Pro Race at the Muskoka tri is up and posted on xtri.com. For those who were waiting, sorry for the delay, but life, work and training got in the way of volunteer work

Great story. I actually noticed last night that you were the author. Congratulations!
The nicest part was interviewing LVL, Whitfield and McGlone after the race. They are just regular folks like you had I…they just work a bit harder and got better genetics for this stuff. All in all, awesome personalities. We are lucky to have champions like them in our sport. They actually had more questions about my race in the poser field than comments about the pro field
I read an awesome article on Whitefield regarding his rejection of materialism after the olympics. He seems like a super cool down to earth guy.
That photo of him is classic. Sounds like the starting time was just a bit off. I don’t know much about those types of races (lifetime, et al.)
Do the men ever win them?
Again, good job.

Actually last year, the men won. Miles Stewart and Tom Evens both ran down Tereza Macel. That being said, if McGlone was in the field with that kind of form, it would have been tough for the men.
Aside from Lifetime Fitness, don’t forget the next race with chase format. Yep, that would be Ironman LP on July 24th.
I was talking to Graham Fraser and the pro women will get a 35 min headstart over the amateurs. This means that all of the pro women will have finished one lap fo the swim course and have started their second loop well before the faster 52 min age groupers head out. They should hit the beach after their second loop just as the top age group men close. That will be the last time the age group men get close to the fastest ladies. After that, the next point should be close to the tape if the winning woman goes around 9:40 and the top age group man goes 9:05. Right now, the leading candidate would be Pierre Lavoie, winner of Hawaii 40-44.
Alicia, thanks for the good words. Hope you are having a good season in North Carolina. I just got a call from Gary Bolton and it sounds like he is gonna fly up from Raleigh to Ottawa and drive with me to Peterborough with me on Sat for the half Ironman so that he can claim an IMC slot on the endless quest to KONA. As they say, “The dream never dies…”

Great article Dev!
