I’m planning on racing Muskoka this year as well. Have you had any luck finding anything since your post?
To others: I’m willing to split hotel fare with a fellow STer if you have space. I’m fine throwing myself down on a pull out couch (or cot) 
For what it is worth, my family and I stayed at the Cedar Grove Cottages, which are essentially across the bay from Deerhurst (about 10 min by road). They offer cottages which are rustic, but very pleasant, and the restaurant was good ( food included). I was focussed on cost, proximity, adn ability to host family, and it met these requirements.
That said, you will hear the announcers at deerhust start up about 5:00 am from across the water, which is why I will rarely stay right at the race venue!

not yet. last i checked there were hotels rooms available, just not any of the resorts. i’ll probably be taking along the kids/wife and making it a 5 day, end of summer trip, so
i was looking for something with more room(s) then a hotel. i may go the cottage rental route or if nothing works out, i’ll just drive the 1.5 hours north from toronto.
Is there package pick-up the morning of? Otherwise I will be in the same boat, looking for accomodation as well. I would probably be looking to split as well for the night before.
There will be TONS of cancellations about 4-6 weeks before the race. Last year only about 1300 people raced after 1800 people signed up.

I take it that those are cancellations for the race. However if Deerhurst (sp?) is full now, do you think they’d have a reservation waiting list, especially due to it being a race weekend? (I’m at work now, so I won’t be on the horn to them until this evening)
I think that Deerhurst will have cancellations also. They have a 30 day cancellation policy. They say they have a waiting list but I would keep calling as I don’t trust them to keep on top of the list.
Have you tried The Best Western, Motel 6 etc that are located at Hwy 11 and 60? There are lots of hotels in Huntsville, I’m surprised they’re all full.
