Music City Triathlon--new venue in DOWNTOWN Nashville

Team Magic has announced the new date and venue for the Music City Triathlon. The announcement was delayed while they were negotiating permits, etc to put the race on. This is in DOWNTOWN Nashville, with the historic Lower Broadway Honky Tonk Row right by the race venue. If you haven’t been to Nashville, it is worth the weekend with near constant country music being played in 10-20 bars, cartoon-like cowboys walking around in dusters. The best way I can put it is that the touristy area doesn’t feel touristy, it is genuine and fun.

Oh wait, there is also a race…

Will be there. Glad they finally got this wrapped up.

It should be fun. Hopefully we get to complete the swim this year, although I am not sure how excited I am to be swimming in the Cumberland.

My athletes swim in the Cumberland every 1-2 weeks for most of the summer. It doesn’t appear to be much better or worse than any other bodies of water around Nashville. In fact, the Nashville Metro Board did a publicity stunt where they swam across the river…albiet with life jackets and their head above the water. Nevertheless, know that some crazy triathletes swim in that water all summer long and no one has suffered anything serious.

I want to see a course map before I decide. I don’t want a Downtown bike course like Powerman’s.

It will be 2 laps on a totally closed divided highway…Ellington Parkway…the bike course will be sweet.

The swim course is going to be a rectangular shape…unfortunately not the smokin’ down-river swim they could have had.

Music City Tri was the first race I did with Amy.

Team-Magic does a great job with their races.

so you’re in right? Cheap SW flight over…you can spend the weekend with Paulo…what could be better?

Kind of sad to see the change. I loved last years run course.

This is good news. I’m in Nashville temporarily, and if we’re still here then I’ll definitely do the race.

Unless you are a trail runner, this is intended as irony.

I really did like last years run. Much more interesting than most flat and straight tri runs. The bike sucked but the run was great.
