MultisportCanada Races on CT

Ok, this is pretty cool (and unique). The MultisportCanada crew looks to be making all their bike courses from their races available to computrainer users.

If you go to Motion Based, you can find thousands of courses that Garmin users have uploaded. You can then download them to your Garmin, but I’ve been told there’s an option to download them to other devices too, including CompuTrainers.

Do you have a link?

Here’s the link to the Motion Based course listing… http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/network/digest/view.mb

There are something like 738,000 courses that have been uploaded so far. Just search by keyword (i.e. muskoka triathlon) and it will bring up listings for run courses and bike courses. There are literally hundreds of listings for the IM courses. You can download them to your Garmin device, and actually race against that time if you want to if you’re on the same course. e.g. if you had a Garmin, and you went to train on the Muskoka course, you could “race” against someone who’s already done. You race them at their speed.

For those without Garmins, you have the option to export these data files in various formats…gpx…hst…crs. I believe “crs” files are for computrainers? I’ve been told that you can also convert these files to suit almost any device, if you find the right shareware.

Here’s an example of a Muskoka bike course, average speed 21.7mph, all elevation data, etc. Go to the summary screen, then export the file in whatever format you need.

I’m curious…I don’t have a computrainer, but I’d like to know how well it works. I’ve got a Garmin on the way, and I’ve already noticed that I can download course data for every O-cup MTB race, every Subaru Series tri and every Ironman I’ve done in the last couple of years. It’s awesome.
