TRIATHLON COACH NEEDED
MTV’s hit series MADE (recently a daytime Emmy winner) is looking for an triathlon coach in the Boston/NH area. Must be super dynamic, charismatic and absolutely able to train a funny but undisciplined high school boy to train and compete in a sprint triathlon. Ideally, you are late 20’s-late 30’s, have stellar competition and coaching experience, a big personality and the ability to be a drill sergeant and kick this kid’s butt into shape. There is a $2500 stipend. If you are interested please email us at

dude - i love your show!
except for that one ‘funkytown’ episode, where the kid never really came out of his shell.
the one where that girl wants to join the dance group was the best i saw.
for those of you who haven’t seen it, the episodes are good when high school kids stop being so self-conscious. it’s only kind of about the event, but it’d be a fun show to be on.

counterpoint:
I hate your show, the little social subplots are so self evidently contrived, and the time some girl had a huge celebration because she got 1mm of air on a skateboard at the end of the show made my cry.
Also it made me cry when I saw the cheerleader episode and it was presented as extremely important that the girl dress and fit in if she wanted to be a good cheerleader… NO THAT DOES NOT FOLLOW!!!
beats head on wall
Well, I guess this could be a good chance to substantiate Paulo’s claims to being a hardass! Personally, I think he’s a big softie at heart but maybe if you fly him across the country, he can prove differently ![]()
The results part, I have no doubt about …
hmmm…
the odd thing is, you seem to have seen as many episodes as I have!
of course, if you have teenage kids, that would explain it.
Second vote for Paulo!
Dave
For a reality show, they generally seem to treat their participants pretty respectfully, unlike the Trading Spouses/Wife Swap folks which have put recruiting posts here a couple of times.
I vote for Kurt Perham!
what say you ST’ers…should I apply?
KP
I would. I don’t know you personally but I think it would be good exposure unless you fluck it up somehow like you apply the more is more strategy on him and the guy bails on you or gets hurt.
I just hope this slacker kid understands that fatigue is a “virtual” concept…
Kurt
GO for it. Just make sure you tell him how much you like to train in the cold and rain.
DB
if the kid is from new england he should have at least a bit of tolerance for the weather…I am sure he will love an ice bath after a tough run. 55 gallon drum, and about 10 bags of ice…
KP
LOL. Good luck !
Yes. Start out by saying this.
I’m not sure if you guys remember this, but MTV already did a MADE show w/ a teenager who wanted to be a triathlete ('03 if I recall). I’m not an avid MADE viewer but I remember b/c it was done in NJ and myself and a few other coaches I know interviewed for the role - I actually raced the event the kid ended up doing (Lake Lenape Triathlon). I know back then the show was still fairly new and there wasn’t a stipend, so it’s much more attractive now. I also know that (2) of us were much more qualified than the guy who got the gig (who was definitely a nice guy, but tri coaching I’m not so sure about). What made him most attractive to MTV was he was between jobs and could revolve his life around it - which he ended up doing.
I suggest you find a coach from the Team in Training program. Preferably one who utilizes PowerCranks and Total Immersion swim techniques.
I just want to see this forum go nuclear ![]()
good info, thanks.
Have fun in Placid.
Kurt
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman (R. Lee Ermey): I am Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, your senior drill instructor. From now on you will speak only when spoken to, and the first and last words out of your filthy sewers will be sir. Do you maggots understand that?
Recruits: Sir, yes sir!
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Bullshit I can’t hear you. Sound off like you got a pair.
Recruits: SIR, YES SIR!
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: If you ladies leave my island, if you survive recruit training, you will be a weapon. You will be a minister of death praying for war. But until that day you are pukes. You are the lowest form of life on Earth. You are not even human fucking beings. You are nothing but unorganized grabastic pieces of amphibian shit. Because I am hard you will not like me. But the more you hate me the more you will learn. I am hard but I am fair. There is no racial bigotry here. I do not look down on niggers, kikes, wops or greasers. Here you are all equally worthless. And my orders are to weed out all non-hackers who do not pack the gear to serve in my beloved Corps. Do you maggots understand that?
Recruits: Sir, yes sir!
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Bullshit I can’t hear you.
Recruits: SIR, YES SIR!
and of course the kid races in Newtons…
