This is the first I’ve heard of it. I’ll have to pass the word along, but $100 for a sprint seems a bit steep.

That is a seriously expensive sprint tri with a pool swim.
I passed last year and I will pass this year.
Tri Freak’s Golden Gate Triathlon was excellent in 2008 (its first year). I did the Olympic. Bay swim, Presidio ride, and run across the Golden Gate Bridge. (VERY few races around here are able to arrange a run across the Bridge - it’s a nice treat.) It was fun, low-key, low-hassle, and a great bargain compared to the Escape from Alcatraz variations!
