MRSA staff virus de-railed my training boo hoo!

Was training for my first NYCM this Nov, when a seemingly simple pimple in my armpit landed me in the hospital for four days, two operations to remove a massive infection, and home-bound on a IV two times a day to administer vancomycin.

The doctors said I had a simple staff infection but the infection was compounded by the presence of a drug resistant strain known as MRSA or a “superbug”.

Anyone experience this before?

Distressed in Richmond

MRSA is big problem in today’s healthcare facilities. Many patients have it, usually localized to a specific site, ie nose or a wound. It gets out of control when the patient becomes compromised. I hate to say it but you probably get it from the hospital itself and although it may now be under control it will always be there.
