I will be moving out to Henderson in a few weeks … just wondering if anyone on the forum lives out there and if there is a tri club near by. Im pretty sure I will be swimming at the Multi Gen Complex …anyone swim there?
Check out the Club Sport in Henderson (they call it Green Valley). I worked out there a few times when I was out there on business last year, it was really nice. Indoor running track for summer time too.

I went out there last April for a conference and did a Master’s swim workout with the Frank (Silverman RD) and a few others at the Multi Gen. Great people. You will like it.
Mohole15 (Jason) is from there and gets on ST on a regular basis.

Funny that you mention this, because the guy who had the fastest swim split in hawaii this year (including the pros) trains there.
Hmmm … I wonder if that sort of thing can be transferred person to person through water
I live in Henderson. Feel free to contact me and ask anything you like. My girlfriend and I are riding through the wqinter and I am still swimming outside with a local Master’s program. I also run with a local running group.
PM me and let me know what’s up, where you’re living, etc…

PS - www.sntriclub.com is the local tri club.
I used to live in Vegas, in Green Valley, but did most of my training, shopping etc in Henderson. For outdoor swimming, the Multi Gen is awesome. For indoor lap swimming, not so much. For indoor swimming I swam at Whitney Ranch; great indoor lap pool. Open water swimming at Lake Mead (usually from Boulder Beach) was great, as well.
I live in Henderson. Here is as I see it.
Excellent training ground.
I swim primarily at the MultiGen complex. 50 meter l/c in the early morning; 25 yard s/c the rest of the day. Basically open all day so it is easy to find the time to swim. Plus a masters team swims there too. Open saturday. Outdoors too. Second place is Whitney Ranch. Not so good. 25 yard s/c. More limited as far as times open and number of lanes (lots of aerobic users not really swimming taking up lanes is a negative). Good option when the weather is bad and one doesn’t want to swim outdoors.
Great for riding. I ride primarily up to Boulder City and then down to Lake Mead. Plenty of hills. Can find grades as steep as you like. Essentially no flats anywhere. Good options for Epic riding. Nelson’s Landing, Searchlight, and the Nipton Loop among a few. You will get strong on the bike here if you want to. The one bad thing is there is lots of traffic until you get down to Lake Mead. Plus lots of road debris. In fact blew a rear tire out this week at Rail Road Pass. Make sure you always ride with a mirror. It has saved me twice already. Try to find a bread and butter local 20 mile route that is mostly residential so as to stay off the heavy traffic roads (like Boulder Highway). Need that for TT’ing.
Great for running. Again, limited flat ground. Do my long runs to the south onto hard pack up into the grades. Like the bike, you will get stronger running around here.
Lots of races here too. Plus southern Utah is close and you can do about 4 races a year there. Southern California and Arizona for additional “road trips”.
Weather is great for year-round training. A little cold now in the morning at sun-up but nothing proper clothing and booties won’t handle. In the summer, does get hot but one just has to do the long stuff at sunrise. You will get acclimated to hot weather. Comes in handy when people start wilting in the hot races and you don’t.

I am so jealous.

I’m in the process of moving - will be here in Green Valley full time in January. So many questions!..
-
What route should i ride, assuming i start from Wigwam & N. Valle Verde in Green Valley?
-
Are there local roadie groups to be found online?
-
local roadie racing circuit?
-
best roadie shops in town? Tri shops?
Yay warm weather! It’s funny being a canadian down here - i’m in shorts and jerseys while the locals are bundled up!

I found a site that lists tons of bike routes off of green valley - http://www.greenvalleycyclists.org/docs/New_routes.php
I just moved here last week and it has been great so far … the outdoor multi gen pool on green valley is awesome, the running is great but mostly uphill and the biking is amazing if you can get out of henderson alive! I went to Red Rock today - it is a bit far but the 13 mile loop is a nice run! Good luck!
A bit windy at Red Rock???
Welcome to town. If you’re interested, My girlfriend and I will be riding from Green Valley to Boulder City - around a portion of Lake Mead - and back to Green Valley. This is weather contingent – not too windy. ![]()

PM me and I’ll give you my number
PS - She’s faster than me.
I will be there from Jan 5 to Jan 12, I’d love to find some people to train with.
I just pm’d you
.
My father lives in Henderson and I visit about twice a year. I have to give a thumbs up on the running and swimming opportunities. I always wondered about the biking. Seems like there are a lot of crazies around and construction traffic that would be hazardous. Thanks for the info about the biking. I may move out there someday, so it helps to know what is up.
I ride out to the lake and back in a non-construction area. Also riding out at Red Rock is non-construction (although you take your life into your hands when you’re near idiot motorcyclists attempting to break the land-speed records in a 50 MPH zone) plus there’'s a few hills worth climbing.
