How come everyone in the movie can spend their entire lives in Texas and never develope a Texas accent. One guy (one guy!!!) in that movie had a Texas accent.

Seriously? You probably think everyone here is also a cowboy with a few horses and cows. Tagged you for someone who didn’t buy into the completely outdated stereotypes.
And, by the way, there is no single “Texas” accent. Been here long enough to pick out the regional accents, be it Amarillo, East Texas, or otherwise. But the big cities have large populations that sound off like a midwesterner - bland.
They didn’t spend the entire movie in big cities (although most). I’m just sayin’, in all the interactions with all the people in the movie in half a dozen different Texas location not one single “y’all” was spoken.

I was expecting a lot of the Mainer accent when I got up here 5 years ago. It’s actually pretty rare to here it. So much so that it stands out when you do. Very rare for any of our students to have it, the vast majority of whom are from Maine and a good many from the sticks of Maine.
