Can this be done without doing it sideways. I was looking at it last night and unless there is a mount for it I couldn’t find a way? Trying to clean up my handlebars for more aero bar room and adjustment but this might have to stay. I’m using drop bars and syntace c2’s.
thanks
Are you using one of the polars that also act as a bike computer? I have read reports on the Aussie polar forum that say you need to use the polar bike mount so the hrm sticks out past the handlebars and can pick up the speed sensor. The solutions mentioned here previously may work, just try them and see.
On my tri bike, I wear my polar 720 on my right wrist, usually on the inside. The speed sensor is on the right fork blade, and I can pick up heart rates during the swim and run as well.

I think that has more to do with signal strength and fan than actual sensor and HRM location.
I have my sensor mounted for use on my rear wheel and singal strength set to high. I can put my HRM just about anywhere including on cowhorns and pick up speed.
If putting the HRM on the stem takes it too far out of the fan of the sensor signal then you could also try mounting sensor on the backisde of the fork instead of front. but we are talking about a couple inches difference, something that can probabaly be completely over come by cranking up sig strength.

Could you explain how you crank up sig strength?
I didn’t know that was possible.
small screwdriver and change the jumper from the one side to the other. there are 3 pins inside and it currently covers 2 (middle and side) - make it cover the middle plus the currently uncovered one on the other side. It drains the battery faster so buy some extras to have around and switch before IM races to be sure

You got it! I’ve been away from the computer all day.
Jumper goes onto the outermost two pins for high.
I haven’t noticed any super decrease in battery life but I also do as you mention and change them all out before A races and/or spring time.
If somebody else rides up next to you he might pickup your spd but that’s hhis problem and they probably shouldn’t be that close anyway
I tried to mount it sideways on my wife’s stem. It wouldn’t pick up a signal, not even from her chest strap. I think the stem had too much metal or something.
It will allow us to mount a Polar ahead of the stem, probably easier for the aero position, further forward and in the center. it’s advertised for 31.8 bars. I’ve never seen one in person, but it looks like a sweet item.
