Since Phoenix is such a lovely city this time of year (lots of sarcasm anytime of year actually) I’ll be heading up to Flagstaff Friday night for the Mountain Man Triathlon. There is the Taylor House Ride on Saturday with a 45, 65 and 92 mile option. I am planning on doing the 65, although could be talked into to the 92…maybe. Any STers want to get together for a nice little group ride Saturday at this ride?
taylor house is a great ride, did the 100 miler a few years ago in lieu of mtn man. great scenery and i do not recall any horrible roads, it was a nice high altitude (some ofver 8000 ft) ride.
Man, I’d love to ride Saturday morning, but it would totally waste me for the race Sunday.
If you get a chance on the way thru to Flag, please feel free to stop by to say HI at the Inn…OR…if you need a place to stay…I have a few rooms left and you’ll see an ST discount!!
At the very least stop and say Hi Sunday morning before the race. You’ll see my bike…it’ll probably be the only Zipp in transition.
We are heading up to Flag friday night, but I’ll hunt own the Zipp hopefully before the race. I’m not known for my prompt arrivals into transition area in the morning. Last race I had to sneak into transition since the race had already started.
I went up 2 weekends ago and rode the Oly course twice…I forgot that I cant climb worth a crap…50 miles…for me a long ride…and then had rain and wind during the 2nd lap…didnt help my already struggling self…it wasnt pretty or fast…but it was a helluva workout…
Not doing the race this year as I will be drunk in Chicago for the weekend…I refer to it as carb loading…
Good luck all with the race - have fun and tear it up!!!
…one of these days I’ll actually meet the “Dude”…of course he can then laugh at my slow speed…
Myself and a bunch of the other RIDECLEAN guys will be riding the Taylor house ride tomorrow. It’s like a big fast group ride, you should do the 90+ mile ride, most of the ride is draftable.
I’m not racing Sunday, I did the 1/2 last year and for those doing it this year… There was no water or gatorade on the bike course when I came through (they put out a garbage can you could fill your bottle out of partway through the race) and the run course only had water (we were told at the prerace meeting gels every couple miles). I usually don’t carry much nutrition with me when I race so when the Race director tells you one thing and you are counting on and it isn’t so… that is a problem. Maybe they will do a better job this year, just a warning to others racing the 1/2 that you may want to carry extra nutrition.
I’ll be in a trisports.com jersey, white helmet. A bunch of dudes from my wifes bike team are doing the 62 so I’ll probably do that, but maybe I’ll miss the turn off. If you see me say hello.
You want to run tomorrow evening 5-6k?
FWIW, the owner of the pita pit I hear is a rapist. Not joking, I have a few friends who are going to NAU. Its just what I have heard. Enjoy the Pita Pit…You can rally taste the rape in their food.
